Denied Amex 3xCli increase question

I tried for the 3xCLI at 61 days.. got letter, only reason given was tenure with Am.E too short.

Does this mean I jumped the gun before 61 days, I thought I had the dates right. It that I need to wait longer? If the latter how long.

I was thinking if it was a credit problem that would have been listed also.

What card was it, how much spend did you run through and was it PIF both months?

It was the Amex Blue..i havent gotten my second statement yet. I was under the impression the 61 days started from when the account was opened.

Had a 4k CL I've probably put about 6k on it in the last 60 days.. had about 500 bal when I requested CLI.

Should I have waited til after 2 statement?

I would have waited until the 2nd statement. My 2nd stated just posted on my ED card yesterday and I requested my 3x CLI. Fingers crossed for a positive answer.

Did you get the 7-10 day letter response?
From everything I had read it doesnt have to be PIF..they just like to see alot of usage. I may wait til my second statement comes out and try again.

Keep us updated, Im in the same boat on the BCP low limit is kicking my ass on the grocery category, im having to pay it mid statement and right at the cut date so it dosent report excessive %

What was your approval date and when did you apply for the CLI? Also, what's your Experian FICO 8 score and your starting credit limit?

Despite the popularity of the 3x CLI topic, only a small percentage of Amex members who are actually approved for it. Most have to wait at least 180 days before being approved for a CLI.

I did indeed get the 7-10 day letter response.

My ED was approved w/ a SL of $2k and I've probably ran through about $3k on it in two months.

My email of Approval was May6th, applied for CLI on July9th.

Exp is 698, was 695 when I applied.

UtL at 11%

OK, so the denial isn't because you requested a CLI too early.

I looked back at your approval thread and it stated that you EX FICO 8 was 678 at approval. In all honesty, I don't think your credit profile is solid enough for Amex to give you a $12,000 credit limit after just two months. None of your other cards are near those limits and you may have two derogatories on your credit report. You'll eventually get the CLI but its more likely that you'll have to wait until the 180 day mark.

I believe your Answer is here;

"If you request a CLI earlier than 61 days and are told that it was denied because you requested one too earlier you should be able to try again at the 61 day mark or later. The general rule is that premature CLI requests do not reset the clock and this tends to be the case here as well. If however, you request early and are denied for a credit related reason such as your scores are too low, then you would need to wait 91 days for being able to try again. This is the case with all CLI requests that are denied for anything other than requesting one too early."

Amex is 91 days if you get a denial for a credit reason. Jumping the gun too quick means you only have to wait the time until you are eligible. If there are baddies on your EX, then you may want to wait a while longer, so you don't get a denial for credit reasons. If there is a BK, then don't even try until its gone. I would probably wait until the scores are over 700 on Amex's Fico score under your account and then you may want to wait a month after it updates as they don't always use the latest one that shows.

It's 181 days until you can request another one if you get a CLI.

I just requested and asked for 12 they countered with 8..I'm guessing since the later I recieved said my tenure with American Exp was too short....and another reason..I didnt have my dates right... pleasant surprised at the increase !
