Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and I need some help.
I just applied for the Chase Freedom card and received this message below.. What should I do? Please help 😯

Without knowing the details of your credit report, we can only offer advice you'd routinely find on Google. Welcome to MyFico btw!

They might need to review your information because of a fraud alert, security freeze or some other inquiry needed to complete it. Have you opened more than 5 accounts within the past 24 months? Is your credit profile older than 1 year?

They pulled Equifax FICO 8 706 and Experian FICO 8 713. I removed both credit freezes before I applied. I have only opened three accounts within the past 24 months Discover It, Capital one Quicksilver and NFCU Cash Rewards.

Have you called the Chase automated line to see what message you receive for your app? It can vary from 30 days, 2 weeks or 7-10 days. Call 1-800-432-3117 to check and we can help from there

It said I will be notified in 30 days of the status of my application.

That means they still need to look over the app. This is actually the next best message to get other than an automatic approval. Just check the status line daily if you like to see when the message changes. Things are still looking good for you.

Thank you. I was so nervous because I did the preapproval and nothing came back. So I decided to just apply. Im going into the garden after this my nerves cant take this. 😬

Were all three 24 mos ago? If no, how many 3mos ago/6mos ago/12 mos ago. Any denials during that time period. Any baddies? What’s your UT?

pre-approvals are at best misleading anyway.

I never got pre-approvals for the big players and just ended up taking a head first approach to them and they've all grown to nice CL's.

Amex - 55K

Disco - 50K

BOA - 65K

Chase - Aggregate 70K+

Just focus on what you want and not what they offer and life is good!!!

If you want big limits... then go for the ones with money to burn... if you want stability and a low APR then you need to look at CU's... it's good to have a few of both if needed.

It's possible to get approved; it's not uncommon to get the 30-day message which means they have not started processing the application, but people get approved eventually. The best thing to do is just wait until the message changes to something else.

Chase would still prefer to see at least 1 year of credit history, so at this point it's a bit hard to tell. If they do deny this application, you could try again when having enough history but wouldn't apply for anything else before that.

My age of credit history is 5 years and 7 months old. 13 years being my oldest Student loans and Discover being my newest that is currently reporting 2 months old.

3 new accounts in a two-month period is a lot for Chase. IMHO, if you get approved, it may be $500-$1K SL.

3 new accounts in 24 mos is way different than 3 new accounts since July.

Ok. Only Discover is reporting to the credit bureaus as the other two are so new. I hope that helps.

It might help because they cannot see them yet, but if/when they do SP later, they will.
Regardless of what some other posters' experiences may be, it's not 2016.
Some profiles can handle multiple applications close together, but for majority of us, that ship has sailed.
Hopefully you'll get approved and then garden for a year or longer.

I got the same message from Chase a few weeks ago, when applying for a Freedom Unlimited. Since my FICO's around 665-670, I was terrified it was a rejection.

Two days later, someone from Chase called to verify my address. Turns out they weren't able to verify me automatically since I moved within the last few months.

I confirmed with her over the phone (sketchy... I don't normally give out personal information to people who call me), and she immediately told me I was approved with a $1,000 SL, something something APR, card will arrive in 7 business days, etc.

So keep your hopes up!

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I was approved for a SL $3,900. The fraud department just called me verify that I was the person that submitted the application. I said yes. She placed me on hold then came back and said I was APPROVED. 😃
