I currently have the discover IT cc thats only about 1.5 years old -

FICO credit score is 745 through experian and 724 through transunion - Pay it off in full every month etc

Current gross income is $30k/year, currently a full-time student so I heard I could include my scholarship money as well.

What are the odds that i get approved? I've had a chase checking acc for about 2 years, i stopped using it a couple months ago so it has like $200 in there, I use it to pay rent though so I literally zelle myself rent money from my other checking acc (i should probably stop doing that). I know my credit history is pretty rough, I'm just looking to upgrade for the 1.5% cashback since I received the discover it intro bonus of cash back match.

Hi @Anonymous, welcome to the forums.

What does the rest of your overall profile look like, aside from the Discover CC? Any other tradelines, such as loans, etc.? Any negatives? Scores seem to be decent at first glance. Have you tried using their pre-qualification tool online?

I don’t have any loans, one hard inquiry from when I requested a credit increase which I was approved for. Not sure what the pre qualification tool is but I’d definitely need to try that!

Looks pretty good to me as a total non-expert but fan of this forum. I'd say you have a pretty good chance given you have no negatives, good score and you've shown you can handle credit for over 18 months with the Discover card. I'd say go ahead and apply and if you get it post again on the Credit Card Approval forum :-D

Thanks for the advice, I’m gonna try and apply soon. Lowering my utilization at the moment so I don’t get too many hits on my score from the hard inquiry

Not really bad at all. It's a hit or miss for a variety of folks, meaning absent the pre-qualification results there are folks that still manage to get approved. Some have opted to visit a Chase branch as an alternative to check for pre-approvals in the event the online tool may not display the results. That could be an option for you if you're near a branch. No guarantees of course, but something to keep in mind.

Income that I apply with: $40k
Credit hx: discover IT almost 1.5years, no late payments, utilization around 10-30% (oops), CL $1100
Other: no loans or debt

Got the message that they will have to review further...I’m stressed that I wasted a hard inquiry on this if I don’t get approved - asked around this website before anout my potential approval rates and they said go for it 😭

Two hard inquiries is nothing to stress over TBH.

Ah, thin file like mine! I'll give you my DP:

- apped for chase FU 10 days ago, 30 day message. Called every day to check, changed to 7-10 days 3 days ago. Called and they needed verification. Yesterday they approved and gave me a 7.2k limit that I'm very happy about.

- Two cards: discover IT (started out as secured, just graduated last month): 2k, 10 months; BOA travel reward: 1.5k, 2 months.

- Credit score: 719 TU, others should be similar but I don't know. Used to be higher, the recent BOA card dragged the AAoA down.

- Did not start banking with chase until last month. However, I do plan to use it as my main bank now that I started.

Your file looks better than mine in terms of oldest card, AAoA & scores! 30 day is not a bad thing, just call every day and check. If it changes to 2 weeks, I heard that's probably good news. If it's 7-10, it's either verification or denial; either way talk to a CSR. Good luck!
