Just got a "Pre-selected invitation in the mail today for this card, the APR on the letter says 24.99%

Obviously I would not carry a balance with that APR. Wonder why it's so high? I have very good credit, my utilizaratio is about 10% my history is not long just over 2 years.

I got turned down by Chase this past summer due to my short history, is that likely with Citi? Are they as hard nosed as Chase about credit history?

Citi is usually not as picky in Chase in my opinion to short history, but still have some funky rules. As it is a defined APR on a lower-tiered card, it is pretty solid from Citi, but your milage may vary.

I would ask yourself what this card does for you as you already have better cards. If you still have aspirations of Chase cards, it would be in your least interest to get this card. Citi is generally cards you get super early in your build or late IMO.

I have about $3800 in total credit card debt right now, not paying any APR interest as cards have 0.0% APR for another 7 months except Discover expires in March 2020, the Capital One Card I rarely use. The Citi card has 18 month 0.0% APR so thinking about off-loading that debt onto Citi card if I get approved.

Why not pay down those balances while you still have 0% APR on the cards you have? If you go for it right now, Citi could give you a limit either very close to the amount of the BT or not enough IMO. If you pay them down over the next 5-6 months while still at APR, you will only help your credit and better chance for a good 0% BT APR card like a Chase Freeedom card that has a life after a BT instead.

Citi gives you 4 month to do a BT, they would give me my CL long before that.

The amount I would pay down on each card would not be that much, I would prefere to pay only on one card also.

Ill just add i dont believe Citi to be an early rebuild type lender, they like to see history. I dont thinknof Citi as low tier credit cards either but again each person needs to determine which cards work for their spend and profile.

I recently got another "Special Invitation" to apply for Citi's Diamond Preffered credit card.

I put the first one I got 2 months ago to the side, now I have another one I got a few days ago, neither one expires until February 2, 2020

I can understand getting the first one, just some company buying some consumer public credit files and blitzing them all with invitations but it's very unusual to get a 2nd one so close to the initial one I would think??

I don't know exactly what my public credit file says, probably not even my FICO score, definitely not my credit history length lol. They would never send me a Citi Card if they knew that.

What do you guys think? Citi cards are hard to get I heard with less than 5 years credit history.

Why do you want this specific card? Is this to just scratch an itch or do you have a balance transfer that you'd like to do? The Diamond is pretty much only helpful for 0apr on purchases and balance transfers for whatever window they give you.

I get plenty of mailers, but take more stock in preapproval sites or in branch preapprovals. If I recall from earlier this year, your age of accounts is relatively new. I'd definitely take a bit of time to take stock in what you actually want your cards to do for you and then make sure you at least have 6 months of app free time before you consider applying once you decide on what you want.

Reasons I was considering this card were as below and not in any specific order.

1. It's a top tier card
2. I only want to have ongoing debt on one card, I have two cards with medium to high debt (for me anyway) will be paying off my Discover card (and one small AMX card) in February as it only has about $350 owed on it and 0% APR expires in March so doing a BT would help me.
3. I should get a boost in my FICO score after I do a BT and pay off those 2 high debt cards.
4. This Citi card has 0% APR for 18 months

Personally, I think it's okay to have more than one BT card laying around. They can be very handy in a tight spot. And I think the Citi DP is a very nice BT card, especially if you can get the better 21 month 0% offer! That said, the chances of getting a SL high enough to be of any benefit is remote. At least based on you current line up. Citi isn't known for being generous, or for being the the first to give the highest CL.

Are you saying that your $3800 in credit card debt is spread across the cards in your sig?

because if so, it would seem that your util is going to be rather high. Something that's likely to come into play on your app.

How old is the Amex Blue Cash? If it's still within 3 months, i believe you can BT to it for the remaining 0% APR.

Once you pay off Discover, you will have the option to BT to it again for another 12 months of 0%. At least in my case there is alwasy an offer avilable. Though your low CL would help much without affecting utilization.

My AMX Blue Everyday balance is low and will be paying that off in February along with my Discover card. Capital One and NFCU both have zero balances, that leaves AMX Blue Business Cash Card (0 % APR till August 2020) & U.S. Bank "Harley Davidson Card" (0 % APR till Sept 2020) that would leave me with $3,645 in debt between those two cards, mostly the AMX business card just over $2400 on that one.

My utilization is currently at 14% and my FICO is 735 and my Vantage 3.0 score is 738

If it were me, i'd have put it all on the Blue BIZ Cash because it doesn't report to personal credit. Thus reducing your utilization even more.

And you'd only be at 50% on that one, which isn't too bad as long as you're paying it down quickly. More than the minimums.

Then while that debt is riding it out, AZEO your other cards "personal" cards. This would give you the optimum score for any future CC apps.
