What card should I apply for with 654 credit score (from CK)?

I have a capital one secured for $500 with less than $200 on the card, but I have had it for several years. Only thing bad on my history is a few charge off medical bills and almost a year ago I had a 30 day late on my vehicle due to a divorce. I currently have my vehicle and two secured loans at my credit union. I’m terrified of getting turned down and making my score go lower. Any suggestions on where I should start?

That really depends on what you're spending your money on.
Your derogs are fairly recent, so "good" cards may be an uphill battle at this point in time.
Also, your utilization on your only card is hight, so I would get that down and wait for new balance to report before attempting any applications.

Have you visited rebuilding forum to seek some help on how to deal with medical collections?
I really think that should be your first step.
In terms of cards, have you checked discover prequal?

Thank you for the reply. No, I haven’t visited any other forum but this one, and you have put me on a path, which is definitely what I need.
I have not applied anywhere at this point. Just trying to get ready to. Discover prequal? I’ve not heard of that.

I just got a Discover card 2 months ago. They pulled Equifax. Credit score 649 fico 1 collection 6 years old, 5 inquirys last 24 months, 3 in the last 12.

Did the pre-qualification and it said approved for Discover It card unsecured. Applied and it said congratulations. Check out the Discover pre-qualification and also other pre-quals. I started with a Cap1 secured and 6 months later checked the cap1 pre-qual site and it said approved for the quicksilver one so do cap1 also. You never know. Let us know how it goes

Have you tried seeing what credit cards your credit union has to offer? See if there card(s) work for you? See if it's possible to apply for the lowest one and build up history to the card you want by product changing it?

I will check on that. They are a small CU, so I’m not sure what they have available. Worth a try though!
