Chase Sapphire Preferred Darkness

I finally got someone to bite on the CSP, particularly cause they had a black star all-but-rock-solid preapproval offer for $18k and lowest APR in their Chase offers.

However, upon accepting the offer, they got informed of decision within 30 days by US Mail, and the status line and online app status don’t show anything. They’re concerned and preemptively upset that what should’ve been a good offer feels like a denial, and I don’t know what to tell them.

They’re profile is great, 780+ FICO, 11% Util, decades long history, zero lates and derogs.
They’re already a customer so it can’t be an app verification or data entry issue right?

Any ideas?

I have 3 cards with the Black star "prequalified" offers as well, Marriot, United, and Southwest card. I was wondering how solid an offer they are. Don't really need any of them, but nice to get more credit and move the limits to my CSR.

It’s most likely verification. I went through a similar situation when I cold apped my CSP. I had the dread 7-10 days on the phone. Received my letter. Asked to call and I was approved on the phone. I would just give it time.

JW with Chase and potentially other creditors, is verification seemingly random at times if it is a pre-existing customer?

30 days, they'll get to you.

14 days, looks good pending a final signoff.

7-10 days, call. It could be a pending denial or it could be a sidetracking due to either verification that it was really you that applied or of information submitted. It isn't necessarily a kiss of death.

Yes. BoA and AMEX both come to mind as having deferred, calling me to confirm that I had applied, and then releasing the approval after confirmation while still on the phone. No idea as to why.

It can be. If they haven’t had a card with Chase, they could be wondering why they have been a customer for so long and just now applying for credit. All the banks have internal factors for fraud.

Chase, while being a major player, I find very clunky in some regards to AMEX and even Cap1. They still tend to want to send the snail mail rather than a quick email.

Hmm, it's only been 5 days, and 4 business days. I'll probably tell them to just put it out of mind for now. They've had a CFU for 11 years now so I hope it's going to be okay. Thanks for all the input everyone though!

I was approved for my Marriott card with the black star in the your offers section of my Chase app. I still can’t believe they approved me with their lowest APR & a $5K SL lol
