USBank Cash+ Requirements?

Hi MyFico Fam,

Due to the outbreak, my 2 year garden goal for August may change to the nearer future. Anyway, USBank Cash+ has been one of my goal cards for awhile now. I'm seeing on their website a drop down introductory menu of their cards with one of its tabs stating "Credit Cards exclusive to U.S Bank customers." With that said, should I open a checking account with them? And by that I mean, do I positively have to in order to apply for their Cash+ card? Is it required? I do not have a branch nearby and already have an account with my local bank, so if I don't necessarily need to open another checking account I'd rather not. My scores and profile stats are in my siggy.

I think the only thing that would or could hold you back is a thin profile....I'm not sure how USB feels about them, otherwise your profile looks perfect for USB.

USB has always pulled TU for me, I live in the south east and based on other replies you sound golden! Let us know how it goes and don't be surprised or too worried if you don't get an instant approval....they love their manual reviews. Other than that they've been great to me!

I am not a US Bank customer and was just approved last Friday for the Cash+, so I would imagine you wouldn't need to open a checking account with them. When I applied I only had 1 CC and 1 auto loan, about 2.5 years old for both. And you have better scores than I do so I'd say definitely go for it!!

Opening the checking account makes it much easier to transfer your cash rewards.

US Bank does not shy away from thin profiles, but they dont shy away from those with plenty of credit, either.

Getting in might be hard for some, but once you're in, they dont care about your other credit seeking activities.

Technically, you don't need a checking account with them. Any cards that are exclusive to existing clients will become available once you have a card.

One of the benefits of going through the process of opening a checking account, one that hasn't been discussed on here in a while, is during the process, they'll SP your reports and if you're pre-qualified for any cards, they'll offer them. You don't have to actually open an account to see them as it's folded into the application. At that point, you can back out and app for the card. It's been a while since I did it, and the process may have changed, but you may want to try that if it'll make you feel any better.

Also, US Bank is a relationship focused bank and there have been many people on here that swear by opening an account, checking or savings, and parking $500 for a few months. People who wouldn't have been approved otherwise, believe this is the reason they were.

We're almost in the same boat, I'm also looking to app the US Bank+ in August & don't want to open a bank account to do so, as I already bank with Chase. Everything is almost in order. I also have a young thin file, my UT is 7%, AooA 1 year 11 months, scores in siggy current. Inquiries 3 across the broad (TU 2, EQ 0, EX 1). 4 revolving accounts

Only thing holding me back is my last 2 accounts are 9 months so hoping by August have a better chance once accounts reach 14 months.Gardening wasn't really a problem for me before, but itching to get out of the garden especially now in these uncertain times but know my odds will be greater if I can wait it out hopefully my patience pays off 🤞😔

You don't need a checking account or any previous relationship to get the Cash+. Some products are relationship based such as the Altitude Reserve and the PLOC. With the PLOC, I had to wait 6 months before being eligible to apply for it.
