Barclays Recon - no longer does recon?

Hi there, first timer going for Barclays card which is the Jetblue Plus. I received a rejection letter due to opening too many cards within the last 24 months. I called the recon line twice and both times got the same girl who basically straight off that their decisions are final and no recon can be done. Is this something new? Is what she said accurate? I plan to keep calling tomorrow and the day after to see if I'll get a different rep and/or response.

You're probably going to get the same person as many call centers have been downsized or closed during the pandemic.

Barclays isn't known to recon for too many accounts in a given time period. Many of us have tried.

Barclay has a roughly 6/24 rule that is applied to some, not all, of their products, and seems to not even be applied 100% of the time. But when it is, it cannot be overturned. Since your denial mentions 24 months I am thinking that is the denial reason in which case they are not going to budge on it.

Even before the x/24 rule from Barclay it has never been easy to get them to look past too many recent accounts.

Denied 4 times. 😂

When the system declines you for that reason, reps can't touch your application. So it doesn't matter how many times you call, you won't get anywhere, but you can try and let us know how it went. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for all your responses, guys. It looks like this is a no-go based on what you guys said. Guess, I'll try again in ~24 months if the 60k promotion is still around. #FirstWorldProblems

Depends on card as well... whether they have a "harder rule" such as arrival + or jet blue then harder where-as other cobranded cards they will consider. I have never had a problem with barclays and by far have a vast CC profile, but no profile is alike either and a long relationship with barclays as well. They certainly have tightened up, but every rule is not a rule depending...
