I was recently approved for a Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard with a $2k SL a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering, when am I actually eligible for a CLI on the card? From what I've read on the forums, seems like it's 6 months. However, the Capital One website says your card only needs to be over 3 months old (under the "Eligibility" section). https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/credit-line-increase/

And is this timeline different for different cards?

Thanks in advance everyone, hope you're all keeping safe

You're able to request your first CLI after 91 days. After your first approved CLI, be it at 91 days or further out, you may request for another after 181 days. If you are denied, you may request again at anytime. I would recommend putting heavy spend on the card prior to your request. They don't mind if you carry a balance, as long as you are making significantly larger payments than the minimum. Congrats on your approval, and best of luck when CLI time comes around!

I got the card in early December. $7500 limit. Used for some Christmas gifts, <$1000. Paid in full.

I tried for a CLI in February, after 2 statements, and got an additional $1000.

Two other cards with them, one over fifteen years old.

It seems like a your-mileage-may-vary situation with them. Improving your odds, though, means using it for around three to six months. They don't mind a small to moderate balance as long as the payments keep up; don't expect a CLI with minimum payments. Barely using the card or barely paying it will mean Capital One turns off the CLI tap very quickly.

I have been considering closing Cap1. out of all my tradelines they really do not match up in any caliber to them .... No CLI for me in any way .. When I got card I charged and PIF for 6mo and then asked for CLI , Got a Decline. my Credit is Perfect im at a 802 on most Cb. I had a auto loan with them that I paid off 2 years early several years ago and even bought a Motorcycle that I paid off in full a year ago, but they seem not to connect the dots with each group.. Its my smallest Limit and I had stop charging on it completly & it was a sock draw Plastic. I reached out a year or so later and ask for a increase and decline again with the reason to be not enough usage !
