3x CLI coming up AMEX

Hello all,

I was approved for $2k on a delta gold card from AMEX 55 days ago. Not a ton of use for the card more of a foot in the door card and was a prequal. I figured why not app twice in the same day for the same hp and got the 5 day notice on an AMEX everyday card. Well they approved me for $1k so it has been 50 days. I am waiting until the end of May to apply for the 3x CLI. Now I am thinking on using the delta for the increase since it would be larger and reallocating the limits. So if I get approved for $6k on delta can I move $5k to everyday card leaving $1k on delta and $6k everyday.

is this possible? If not which one should I request the cli on? The $1k may not get approved from what I've read which is why I'm asking! I definitely use and will continue to use the everyday card much more frequently. Thanks!

In general, I would say your plan is fine. The only hitch may be that both of your Amex accounts are so new.

I reallocated from my BCP to my ED 2 days ago so each would have $18K. No need for so much on BCP. I asked how often I could do reallocations and was told there is no limit or waiting period. In my case, the BCP is 2 1/2 yrs old and the ED only 2 1/2 weeks.

The difference is negligible between a 2x3 or 1x3, so whichever you get more use/spend from is where I'd focus my CLI. If all things are equal, do the 2x3 and at least ask for a reallocation.

It is better to request 3X CLI on the larger Delta Gold card. And yes, you can relocate the limit online in Account Services.

I opened a Everyday card in late march. Got 1K limit.

Did reallocate 11K from my unused Blue card to this to make 12K total CL.

Then did BT for 5K (BT is capped at 5K) and made purchases for 2.4K.

Can I request a CLI after 60 days in early June to reduce my utilization.

Have there been any DP's of an Amex that was increased as a result of a limit reallocation also receiving a CLI at the next opportunity? Provided that the card showed use and profile supported it, of course. Did a search and came up with a lot of "maybe's" and "possibly's".

@Anonymous go for it, reallocate what makes most sense for you and trying 3x where needed cant hurt.. they always come back with a counter if they dont accept something that might be too high regardless of CL transfers

as for when, they ONLY give accepted increases every 181 days, denied ones every 91, new acc 61

example: November i got approved for a 4k SL, approved 3x on Jan 8, now with my 12k CL and a BBP (only 2k. received end of Jan after 3x) im only able to either request 36k or 6k on or after July 7-8.

if i move 10k to bbp making it 12k and CM 2k, i THINK i can request 36k on my 2k CM come july.. obviously it would be "safer just to 3x the bbp to 30k but either way you could get a different increase or denial too altogether requesting anything on either..

SO the verdict is try cm to 36 or 35, even if on a re-allocated limit, main reason being its the highest CL.

@elixerin thanks. I've gone ahead and essentially swapped the limits between my two, making the Delta $4k. That's the one that's been getting the SUB spend and was getting a little tired of banging my head on the limit, making several payments so far and second statement only cuts next week.

SUB is pretty much done but continuing to swipe for everything in hopes to trigger the CLI at the end of next month. At least for me, it'll be an interesting little experiment as Amex has only ever given me 2x on the BCE and bupkis on the last attempt in March. Hoping things will change and can snag a $12k on Delta.

course, recycle the 4k once or twice in a statement and you definitely are a warrant for the 3x

for a bit of reference on DP's i was able to get the 3x at just 702 (approved for card at 712 in November) score, they say everyone's profile is different however my credit background prior to my amex experience was beyond limited, Nov marked 1 year of brand new credit for me (on just one card) n the magnet was my first amex at 4k, in the two statements i had it but wasn't on report yet i put about 20-25k on it (one $755 balance report, the report right before CLI req (and before it showed on CR) was $50)

Your spend and payments sound proficient for the increase, as long as your above 700ish(even then just to be on the safe side) id say ill be seeing u in the 3x amex thread soon!
