Chase phone number verifcation?

So I recently applied for a chase saphire reserve card. I was asked to call in at which point the rep asked to send me a text message for verification purposes.

I gave him the number I put down on the app (my cell - which has been the same for years) and he said he couldnt verify that number and I'd have to wait for a letter in the mail.

What gives? And how are they verifying my number? Doesnt make a lick of sense.

@Anonymous Howdy and welcome. I'm sure sure the method that Chase uses to connect you with a phone number but trust and believe that they do.

May I ask if your cell number is in your name and not the same of a family member or spouse? I've read of folks having issues with that before. Also, they can tell if your number is one of those created by services like Google Voice.

Don't know the technology or company they use for such info but they do indeed do it. I would guess that the letter is now going to probably ask that you send in some sort of identifying document(s).

Good thing is if everything is straight up then you'll get a response...and hopefully a favorable one. Best of luck to you.

Check your credit reports to make sure your phone number is current and correct
