Macy's & Bloomingdale's Apps

Hi everyone! My DS just got a new job and finished her 3 weeks of training (yaay!!) but she will be required to work in an office after the 7 year work from home gig she did in her sweats lol. She wants to take advantage of the new account discounts at Macy's and Bloomingdale's since she'll be spending about $1K at each.

I thought because they were both Citi cards that she couldn't apply for both on the same day, is it different for DSNB cards? I'm checking to see if I gave her bad information

Yes, they are backed by DSNB and she can apply for both on the same day. The advice I followed was that if you are approved for one you will more than likely be approved for the other and it was true. I applied for both back to back on Nov 4 and was approved for the Amex versions.

Note when applying online the SL is usually quite low, DSNB states this is for security reasons. If she wants a larger SL she may want to apply in store. Good luck and Congrats on the new Gig !

Thank you so much for all the info!! She did Macy's online last night and was approved for $1000 SL. Headed to Bloomingdales now lol!! With your Amex versions have you been able to get CLI's easily? If you've done CLI's how often do you try?

I know my mom's store card has grown from $800>$22K in about three years but I wasn't sure if the Amex is more restrictive. She only asks for a CLI when I bug her to go for it so much that she finally does it to shut me up lol!!

Great News ! Congrats !

Generally, from what I've read here, the first CLI is at 2 months (although some have gotten it sooner); then every 31 days (Macy's), 32 days (Bloom's) thereafter. And they grow, fast !

Keep in mind so far I've only spent $20-25 on each per month-

My first CLI's were in January +2500@, day after Bloom's 2nd statement cut Then every month an addt'l 1500@. I asked too early on Bloom's in April and didn't try again, so skipped that month but my current CL's are: Bloom's SL 1.5k, current $10k and Macy's SL 1k, current $11k. I plan to continue until I reach 25-30k@.

I shop high end but as I've grown older prefer boutiques, custom designs, NM and Nordstrom. I grew up with these stores so may be a bit jaded. (thanks Mom!)

You have done very well with the CLI's!!! Thank you for the additional DP's, I have already shared the info! It's really tempting to go for one myself but I have had a good run lately and for me, it's cash only in a department store lol!! We were raised too on NM, Saks, I. Magnin and Nordie's so 'thanks mom' made me laugh!! Thanks mom indeed! These days I'm saving for a new home so it's NO retail shopping for me and I'm totally okay with it.

Update, sis sent me a text from Bloomie's, Amex approved at checkout $3200. SL. She said to send you a huge Mahalo! She got her work wardrobe, spent just over $1K on $2100 worth of sale items and saved an additional $200 for using the new card today. Thanks again for the help and have a good weekend ahead!!

Its been tuff. Today marks officially 3 months without an unemployment check, im not the only one here either and am at the point i may have to damage my credit to survive. Ill know for sure after Monday . Who woulda thought Navy would be my saving grace after all the hps sweat and tears it took to achieve me a 25k card. My blessings to your family as well all away over there from here😇

Thanks @ocheosa i wont be applying for a loan but am hoping to use my CA and then pay it off with my only bt option available with PSECU. Now if they dont accept the bt then im really screwed. Things are opening up here but my job still hasnt officially opened and no clue when. Judging off how people are still being people here, im sure its just a matter of time before everything closes again. Craziness indeed.

The dp's must be true, lol.

I tried cli#1 before I got the card- {{{Gong!}}}

I tried cli#2 via phone before I got the card- {{{Gong!}}}

I tried cli#3 online yesterday-{{{Gong!}}}

The CSR told me last week to wait for two stmts. to cut. I did not wait; I'm non-compliant; I did not get diddle.

I do not have my first stmt. either soooooo there ya go- my dumb dp's.

Please post back when DSistah gets her first Macy's cli. We should be close in timing. Good luck to her and Congrats!

Sorry for the late response. Went camping for nine days and it sure was nice to get away!!

I will definitely let you know when she goes for her CLI's and the outcome. Her Macy's already cut the first statement and it looks like Bloomies will be later this month she said. She has already paid them both off and will make a small purchase and PIF again before the second statement.

I hope things are going well for you @GApeachy and I will report back in August!!
