PenFed Declined Poll 😡

So I app'ed for a PenFed card this weekend, declined. Recon, declined again. (they even sent me the exact same dated denial letter, makes me wonder if they even bothered to reconsider)

So I am feeling pretty miserable right now - but they say "misery likes company" so I need some company

So have you ever been declined for a PenFed card? Declined again for recon? Let's hear your story.

I am kicking myself for even trying - but you start reading all the success stories in Approvals section with DP #'s less then yours and great approvals, and you start believing in yourself "Dude, I got this!"... Yeah well, not so.

I am sure I will be singing this same tune when Langley declines me too (that one is not my fault, pushed into that if you seen my post on that situation.)

PenFed thought I had too many new accounts when I applied 9/2018. I had two new accounts 6 months old. I wrote them off and didn't even bother establishing membership.

Yeah, I wish I didn't bother to go thru membership and getting a savings if this was going to be the result.

It's my own fault. I was bored over the weekend reading all these great approvals for PF and I went with it.
PenFed was going to be my long term try later on while I garden. Oh well

When I opened my membership I was approved for $10k...then it was REVOKED during the POI process. Maybe a year later I tried again and was approved for $15k with less income and no POI and more debt. Go figure. I think they switched from single income to household income. Anyway, since then they have been awesome! I am at $49.5k TCL and my last card and cli we’re both SPs!

Don't feel bad man, I was declined for a personal loan last year, even when I had a credit score around 720 (they wanted a co signer, I just said nevermind). Just recently I was delcined for a CLI for my PenFed Cashback card (3 weeks ago). I been a member for over 10 years, I financed 3 cars with them, a student loan, and have 2 credit cards, one which doesnt exist anymore, so I cant even add an AU, or do a CLI (no option to do so). Even when I was getting my car loans with them, it was always a hassel and they took forever, same with my Student Loan, they took so long over a month, that they had to do another hard pull at the end a month later, to I guess refresh my credit. I actually gave up that time trying to get a student loan, and I guess they found that it was taking long and a manager came in contact with me and kept apologizing. I recently became a member at NFCU, totally different experience. Really happy there.

When i first joined Penfed Mar 2017, i got the checking and savings and apped a cash rewards... denied. I was still rebuilding at the time and was told my score was to low for an approval. Flash forward 6 months later, score improved and i was approved a CR for 2.5k. In the 2.5yrs i've had that card, ive gotten ONE CLI for 500 (assume a ptiy throw at best) The 2% was nice, but now AOD has the 3%, when i come out of the garden later this year early next year, i may try for that one.

I see you have the AOD so that is awesome, and the Platinum card they have i used to want when it was vertical, but once it went to a standard design... I really looked at the benefits and what i use my cards for.. Not so great. You might have a better use for it tho. PF is good for lower rates, but their cards with the newer offerings out there are starting to be kinda Meh now.

I been Denied twice for a card with 740plus Eq score dont feel Bad btw i cant even move on because even today i get these Random (Marketing Emails) Cloaked as a (Exclusive offers) for You emails. when in Reality the only thing they offer me is the (Log Out) Button 😂 im tired of them Harrassing me with the Come get denied emails

Was declined in June 2018. 15 months later, I apped again and got $15000 SL on the Platinum Rewards card. There was no HP on the latter....

I was denied a power cash about two years ago. I haven't tried for a card again.

LOL, come get denied emails, I like that - that's going to be me for sure. With these guys AND Langley.

@Wavester64 your denials (all of them) are a screaming message on state of your credit. You can continue digging a hole, or you can stop. There is really nothing in between.

You got caught in the hype.

As an example, you started *just asking about CUs, i ain't applying" thread.

Two hours later, two applications.

Couple of days later, two denials.

You were going to garden after Cash+, denial, that lasted a day.

You were going to garden for Chase, lasted a day.

It's really hard to do this right if you have no plans or goals. Seems like you're just trying to catch up on what you feel was "denied" to you post BK. It really doesn't work like that.

You're free to continue applying, certainly your choice, but you might want to omit "I dont understand why", because exactly same "why" was listed on all AA letters.
