Hey guys, I had recently applied for the Apple Card and was put on the path to Apple Card. Just this week I reapplied albeit before the completion date which is next month but have heard that it is possible to get approved before the path to Apple Card program has been completed. From what I understand they pull Transunion Fico Score 9 and my current score sits at 676. The reason it wasn't approved is because it states that I had been late on a payment recently? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Try the shopping cart trick.

Add a couple of large items like Mac Pro in the tune of $10K into the cart, go to checkout and click on the financing with Apple Card. I have read that people on Path to Apple Card get approved before their completion date that way.

Fill out the app, and if you are approved, it will tell you how much you are approved and cannot continue with the checkout because you don't have enough available credit to buy $10K worth of stuff. So just exit the checkout.

Go back to the wallet, and you'll see the continue your application of the Apple Card, click on that, and you'll see the approved offer in there .

The reason of recent late payment does not necessarily refer to a timeframe you might think as being recent. Sometimes GS uses that for any missed payment they see anywhere on your report. Lenders are required to give a reason for denial when refusing your credit, therefore they sometimes just throw something out there wether it be pertinent to your current profile or not, just so they can have a reason listed. The actual reason they denied you may be just because they're being more cautious lately (as most lenders are.) So "recent late" may be a missed payment from 7 years ago, or something that happened last month. It's a pretty broad remark. Your best bet is probably going to be following the steps they gave you in path to Apple Card. I've heard mostly success stories for those that did just that. Good luck getting that beautiful slice of titanium into your wallet!

I was getting denied for that same reason, but I hadnt had any late payments in a while. It was showing 11 months since my late payment on my CR last month when I applied. I waited till this month when it showed 12 months since my last late payment and I applied today and was approved. It might be that you just have to wait for the time since last late payment to be a year.

Ok, so has anyone done this and been approved for more than the cost in the cart? I really don't need to have to explain to my wife why I just bought $10k worth of Apple stuff...

I'd like to know whether it's still possible to back out of the purchase of you're approved for more than the total. Alternatively, does adding like $100 to the bag before applying have the same effect?

Also, congrats!!

Ok, well, I answered the question. For any interested, yes, you can still back out of a purchase after you've been approved for an amount greater than the bag total. Added a watch band, one I liked, just in case, approved for $3500 and was able to back out and delete the band from my bag...

Though now, I may go back and buy it. I liked it. I'm tired of the one it came with.
