Application Pending + Approved - Pending = DECLINED

Have you ever submitted a credit card application that went from pending to approved, back to pending, then to declined? I would like to know your thoughts about this. Please share. Thanks.

Penfed has done that twice to my DH.......................................

I had issue with PenFed on $10k card approval reversed to declined on my first application with them. Now they love me. I gave up trying to figure out credit unions.

Alliant did that to me a couple of years ago.

Approved (with set SL) - Review - Request POI (Shows same as stated in application) - Denied

I dumped them shortly after due to their archaic systems.

Happened to me once...SDFCU...went from approved to declined and stayed that way.

I think this was a common theme for NASA back in the day.

It appears that it mostly tends to happen on the CU side than a variety of traditional banks. Often, an application can be 'conditionally' approved by the system until said conditions are met or unless any manual UW overrides the system approval and declines it.
