I IIB my Macy's account back in 2012. I just tapped their shoulder and they gave me 1k AMEX just a minute ago. They pulled my EQ report which still reports the BK but not their account. Maybe that will give you some insight.

Macy's application declined - any blacklist success/DPs?

Just wanted to drop some DP for people who are interested in the Macy's card but had them previously IIB. I had been reading on this forum and elsewhere that Macy's appeared to be letting some people in with BK history as recent as 18mo past DC. I love me some Macy's but I really miss the Macy's store and Macy's Amex cards that I'd held which were IIB (total between the two that I'd burned was around $5k, I think). Getting back in with Macy's is one of my "bucket-list" items on my credit rebuild plan.

So, emboldened by some recent credit successes -- which I will post about in CC Approvals later -- I figured it would be worth it to head down to Macy's yesterday for some Christmas shopping and make an application in-store. Ultimately, I was not instantly approved (and I ended up paying for my items with a different card), but I was given an application number and told to expect a letter in a couple weeks. When I got to the car, I called Macy's up and spoke with a credit rep who told me that it wasn't an out-and-out denial but rather that I needed to wait for the letter for verification purposes. So that was that, until just now when I decided I was impatient and wanted to try again. So this time I called the new credit accounts number listed in the Backdoor Numbers thread and spoke with another representative who was a little better informed about my application, and this is what she said:

The application was denied by the system due to the status of my prior accounts. When I had explained that the two accounts were included in my BK which had been discharged in April 2019, she did explain that the system is not flagging on my BK but specifically on the two derog accounts from their internal recordkeeping. She'd said that the system generally will not reject based on BK after 24 months, but then I asked at what point the system may "forgive" the derogs when considering a new application and she couldn't say, nor could she agree to my request for a manual UW review based on yesterday's HP. Her only suggestion was that I may want to pay off the derogs and apply again. So that was disappointing, though not entirely unexpected. Anyone have an inkling of when DSNB may let someone back in when they were IIB? Is that closer to the 3-4 year mark that I've read about elsewhere?

Most of these situations are going to be YEMV, especially if IIB. Below is one thread that shows some success with an unpaid CO and eventually being off the blacklist:

https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/Macy-s-Blacklist-UPDATE/td-p/6168928

ETA - a few months back you had mentioned... "Before anyone says it: I'm done with apps for now. More or less got where I wanted to be, and now it's time to age up accounts and practice responsible usage."

Did the Macy's application change the outcome of your long term goals?
