Agree with the above comments. I have opened three Citi cards since 2019, and all three times, they pulled Equifax. I am in North Carolina, which may or may not matter (don't know).

Citi is a good secured card, with two caveats. One is, you can never increase your credit limit after opening the card, so make sure your deposit is a credit limit you can live with. The other is, they say it typically graduates in 18 months, but from what people post on these boards, in reality, it can graduate as early as 11 months or as late as 30 months. Datapoints are difficult to find to figure out what determines it. I tried pretty hard in 2019 and couldn't.

I personally wouldn't get it because it graduates, or make card graduation a part of your plans in any way. After 18 months or even 11 months, you will be able to get better cards anyway. JMO. Even so, Citi is a lot better to deal with than most secured cards, has a good app and web site, and has no annual fee. Good luck!

I applied Jan 2020 and they only pulled Experian.

One suggestion, try to put as much as you can for the opening deposit because you can't change it. And when the card does grad it will keep the same limit. I hear it's not all that easy to get a cli.

Mine is supposed to graduate in July but i think it may get extended to 24 months due to new accounts opened and # of inq but we'll see.

I got mine in June, 2019. It has been an annoying card. They don't like multiple payments per month and will hold the funds for 5 business days. I have managed it responsibly and my profile has greatly improved since then...

Was really hoping to graduate in December after 18 months. Instead, got a lovely "Christmas Card" telling me that they were going to be keeping my deposit (1000 bucks) "for another 12 months"... interest free of course!

By contrast, US Bank graduated both of my cards this month and I had opened them at the same time as the citi card.

I keep hearing that US Bank is "so conservative" but they are downright liberal compared to Citibank, in my humble opinion.

It isn't even like having the Citi card has given me a leg up on other Citi cards... I can't even get approved for a lousy gas card from them... never mind Best Buy.

Right now, I'm kinda like having gotten into the slow line at McDonalds... on the one hand you feel like you should cut your losses and get in a different line. On the other hand, you figure you've stuck it out this long, you hate to throw in the towel because you have already invested this much time and energy.

If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have bothered.
