Apple Card CLI Denied

Just a heads up for those who are in the same situation; I waited 90 days, actually 94 days because I waited until the 5th of the month to ask for a CLI. I've read somewhere where GS does their accounting every 5th of certain months. Anyway, I was denied because of a recent past due payment on one of my other credit issuers it says. I've also used the card for everything for the past 3 months. I don't have any missed payments and I used to get that denial before I even had the Apple Card. I thought when I was approved they'd clear that recently past due remark. I guess not. I might not use the card as much anymore since it's only a $350 limit. Oh well. Maybe I'll try again in 90 days.

Don't feel too disheartened. As those derogs start to age, your current lenders will begin to trust you more over time, so long as you keep making responsible payments with them. Credit can be ruined in a day, and can take many years to fix sometimes. Just take it a day at a time, keep using your card if it fits your spending patterns, and don't take denials personaly. It's just a computer spitting out a decision based on a pre-programmed algorithm. Good luck to you on your next CLI request. Don't give up!

Thanks! It's true. It's just a computer, based on algorithms. This makes me feel better haha. I'll use the card when I have to, especially when I'm using ApplePay. Hopefully, with time, it'll get better. My credit that is. It takes a while.

Honestly, I do not know. I still have 2 Amex CO's on my credit report. It has to be that. It's been more than 2 years since I paid those, even Amex has let me back in w/ 2 of their cards.

I'm so sorry to hear about your limit increase denial! If it is any consolation I also get that message when I apply for a limit increase. I also used to get that as a denial reason when I applied for the card (only was approved after using the Apple Cart Trick). For me it is some missed student loan payments over 2 years and 8 months ago (last time I missed one). Hopefully soon the late payments in our credit pasts won't hold us back with Goldman Sachs! Denied to "recently been past due" Don't know why because all my payments have been on time for over 48months. many lates before then. My credit score has gone up and up every month, and debtload is now down to $2K and utilization barely 5% score only at 680. tried to order new ipad on apple and use the applecard. oh well

My DH has just received the same message. "Transunion reports a recent past due" he has not had a past due since June of 2019 which is 1 student loan late. I am going to test a theory and see if we get the same result in July. My theory is maybe they have issues with lates that are 2 years or less?

Don't take the Apple Card CLI denied personally as many of us on this forum have experienced the same thing. Just try again when your schedule allows. Wishing you success on receiving the desired CLI.

I too am stuck with no CLI and a tiny limit. I use mine as a glorified 2% cash back debit card and pay it to 0 the day before the end of each month. They use TU FICO 9 for reference and apparently that model thinks any past negative makes you the highest credit risk in the universe. My 9 scores are substantially lower than my 8's.
