EBay MC 7-10 day message

I was just approved for the PayPal Cash Back card with a 3k SL, they pulled Transunion. I had to call in and give a reference code, verify identity, etc..

I figured since I have been shown some Synchrony love the last 3 weeks (Care Credit SL 1.5, TJX SL 400, now PayPal), may as well try for an EBay MC as well since it's also Synhrony. Applied 45 minutes to an hour after applying for the PayPal card.
Unlike the PP, no alert about a HP for the eBay card (could this be because they don't do 2 HPs on the same day?).

However, I did get the 7-10 message. There was a reference code. I stupidly did not screen shot it.

Is this likely a denial? The reference code started with the same letter as the previous one for PP which did lead to an approval, so is that possibly some light at the end of the tunnel?
Should I try calling the phone number I called for the PP and see if a Synch CSR (underwriter?) can find my app and ask where we are at?
Anyone know what the likelihood is I was flat-out denied vs. possible needed further verification?
Is it a discouraging sign I didn't get a 2nd HP with this 2nd Synch app within the same hour?

@Anonymous by any chance is the email/log in address for your Paypal acct. different from the email address you've used for Ebay? This just happened to me (got the 7-10 message for Paypal app, no HP either).

When I got the letter from Synchrony it stated, "could not verify". All of my accts. with Synch have one email address but I forgot that my Paypal acct. set up many years ago had a different email address/log in credentials.

Wait for the letter to see if that's the case.

...and yes, I'd call if you don't want to wait on the letter. Tell them you did not save the reference number and see what is required to push the app along. GL!

My guess is that it may have to do with applying for your 4th CC from the same lender within a period of a few weeks. I would be cautious as Sync can be twitchy. I don't think they'd do anything at this point other than deny you, but they don't like to issue what they consider to be "over exposure" to their customers. Not trying to be a downer, and I'm glad you got some nice approvals out of them, but I think this is likely their way of saying "That's enough for now."

Okay, that may be a good sign. I decided not to call...I have no business applying for another acct. with them...I just can't help myself

But....like @Ficoproblems247 mentioned, with Synchrony "Less is More" hahaha! It might have been a good thing to dodge that hp bullet and then the "No Soup for you" bullet too.

I don't think so. No Hp so no damage probably....nothing was processed more than likely.

If it were me, and I didn't really want to continue on with the app, I'd just wait on the letter to see what it states.

If you still want to continue on with the app then that's a different story. Whether or not it would put their "ugly eyes" on you or not, I have no idea at all.

Don't forget to lock your reports.

If you subscribe to any of the 3 credit bureaus and have the ability to lock your reports it's always a good idea to do so when not applying for credit. It's a fraud preventative measure.

I use the free MyEquifax to place a freeze on Equifax. I use the free TrueIdentity to lock Transunion. Same with Exp., it's free sometimes, sometimes it's a small monthly fee...I usually just cancel before I get charged or I pay the $14.99/month. I think there's a creditchecktotal(?) some peeps use here for Experian, idk the charge but it's cheap iirc.

Hey so because I have pretty much no self-control, I did go ahead and call the Synchrony number that I had called earlier for the PayPal card to see if they knew anything about what's going on with this other eBay application, and the customer service rep was able to find this eBay application in question, she came back with "It is going up for further review". Thoughts? Better than an outright decline right?

Your goals would determine whether a freeze or a lock is most appropriate for you, but freezing your reports is most likely your better option. As an example there are legal ramifications if a CRA inappropriately releases credit information when a freeze is in place that don't exist if there is a lock.
