I'm only prequalified for the nSecured card..

Thinking about applying for Platinum straight out. Became a member just yesterday. Chances i will get declined ? I heard the NFCU prequal is very inaccurate..

Datapoints:

Oldest age - 5 Years

Average Age - 1 Year & 6 Months

Fico 8s Eq683,Tu714,Ex722

Fico 9TU 742

12 Cards, Highest is my BOA @ 13k

Total CL - $66k , Util 19%.

So question.. Go for platinum or play it safe for the nsecured ?

You are correct in the inaccuracy of their prequal tool...but typically it's telling people they are/would be approved for non-secured products, then not/denied....however in your case, it's not even going that far. That would have me pause. NFCU is also sensitive to DTI.

While their tool isn't great, if all it's giving you in the Secured, I wouldn't overshoot. IMHO

Yes, their prequal hasn't ever been reliable.

Going off of your TU 9 score you look good, and 19% isn't bad.

You could try for the Platinum and if denied sometimes they'll offer the nRewards.

If you're not really pressed for a new card right now, you could wait a few months and start to build a relationship with them, that usually helps a lot.

Maybe wait for other opinions as well.

Going to recon, message through secure message to see if i can just settle for the nSecured. Don't wanna waste a hard pull. Looks like a 91/3 game starts AFTER i hopefully get the secured.

Sorry to hear about that. I would think they'd offer the secured with your recon. Their nRewards is one of the best secured cards programs, they're pretty good with graduating cards to unsecured, usually starting around the 7th month at the earliest.
