Does the pre apply page ever work on the Citi page? I've been trying to use this for a month now but all I ever get is this message.

The Citi prequal page has been down for more than a year. We don't know if it'll ever be back up, fixed, or whatever is wrong with it at the present time

Unsure if it's a workaround, however, I know Home Depot's credit cards are through Citi... and they have a prequal on their website... check it out at https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/apply/home-depot-credit-card?app=PQ01&siteId=PLCN_HOMEDEPOT&sc=30052&cmp=A~Z~C~P~1~5~ZZZZ~PQ~HD~ZZ_1D3

I feel you. Theyre excuse for me is "to many recent inquiries". So im gonna garden for about 6 months and give it one more shot after that im done with them. I also have and still do have an checking account with them since 2017 (4 years).

Home Depot and Best Buy are both Citi cards (there are probably more, but those are the two I know of off hand). Being pre-qualified with HD is definitely not a precursor to an approval with Citi directly. Home Depot is VERY lose with approvals where Citi is not.

I was just approved for a BB card during an app spree. There's zero chance I'd get a Citi with my current number of inquiries.

That said, I have no idea if having a BB or HD card would improve your chances getting in with Citi in the future.

DW received an invite in the mail, she has way less inquiries and cards than me so we gave it a shot - instant denial for recents...

Citi seems to be very sensitive to them lately.

It was taken down right about the time Covid hit. Oddly I never had pre-qualifies from that site, had to cold apply and have 5 cards with them. Not sure it will be back

Citi seems to be very sensitive to them lately.

They seem to be really hard on inquiries. When i was speaking to a representative she told me to wait atleast 6 months then reapply. I was speaking to her on the reconsideration line and she told me where the flaws was. If I wait 6 months I will have a better shot at approval since the inquiries was the only reason they denied me.

Citi is not a relationship oriented bank and they have no problem telling you you're just a number on a spreadsheet. People should apply for what they want rather than try to get their foot in the door.
