[Update - APPROVED] Apple GS CLI Denied, tried again now pending!

A couple weeks ago I applied early for a CLI on my Apple Card that has a SL of $1500 and was denied, the only reason was that the accout is too new.

So I waited until my 90th day and applied this morning, and was denied for the following reasons:

Your Apple Card account is new and you have not used and paid off enough of your credit limit over time
Your recent payments on Apple Card did not cover a significant portion of your monthly balance

The FICO 9 score they gave me from TranUnion was 675.

At the time of my request, I had a balance of $300. I saw an advice from someone here that said to leave a balance on the card when requesting a CLI, but that second denial reason above said otherwise.

I paid off the balance, and requested again. Instead of the automatic robot, this time I got a live agent. She submitted the request again and said I should get a response in as little as 10 minutes, or 3 calender days.

It has been 10 hours. Do you think this is another denial? Or do I have a chance of reconsideration?

Sounds like another denial, but you'll need to wait another couple days to see if the limit changes. If it doesn't, then the CLI was not approved. Keep your thread updated.

Same happened to me about a week ago and it ended up being a denial.

Check your spam folder. E-mail is almost instantaneous. Also, the overwhelming dp on first cli is 91st day. Not 90.

Even with my 717 TU Fico 09, they won't budge on approving me. That BK is just blocking me from good things.

Just gotta wait it out.

This doesn't seem to be the reason for the first denial. I just chatted with a live agent and my second request is still pending.

I feel your pain @CreditPacMan. I have had the Apple card since fall of 2019 and I got a crappy starting limit of $2500 and ONE cli of $250 in two years lol. Goldman Sachs hates me. I have gotten pending a few times, but always ends up a denial for me. That card is by far my lowest credit limit card. I have bought a macbook air on it, paid it off, bought another macbook, paid it off. Nothing. My TU fico 9 according to them is 741 and my utilization is about 12% with NO balance on my apple card. I am bucketed I think. I am going to permanently sock drawer the card and may close it. Too many other cards out there that want my business.

What reasons have they provided for each of your denials? They seem to be declining the CLIs for some reason.

@lgtwriter Right, which is why I posted on the credit forum trying to understand their underwriting criteria. What do they look at when determining initial CL? Overall utilization? Credit history? I mean a friend of mine just got approved for the card with a $6k SL with only 15 months credit history!

If maxing out the card and paying it off is the only way to get CLI, I can only think of rent to put on it and paying off immediately. But it seems even maxing out the card and paying off is not the way to go from your experience.

After more than 2.5 days, the request is still pending.

I chatted with an agent and asked what's the hold, they did not know. They also could not cancel the request.
