It has been my observation and experience that Chase will typically perform one auto CLI within the first 12 months of cardmembership.

After that, it is pretty rare to see one from them. As others have mentioned, heavy spend can sometimes trigger a credit line increase.

Chase will often remind you, but be sure to update your income in your online account management for the best chance for an increase. Because of the regulations created by CARD Act, banks are required to obtain income information on an annual basis in order to consider your obligations for credit line increase.

The credit they've given me is not even close to 30% of my income; I suppose Chase is a very stingy bank. My overall usage in my credit profile is less than 10%. Chase and Bank of America are both Stingy, while American Express, Citi, and Discover have been very consistent with auto CLI.

It takes the right profile, usage and other internal factors for them to yield one. You'll see countless posts on folks having Chase CCs for several years without any auto-CLIs. With that said, if you feel your spend is more than adequate every monthly cycle, then you can take the HP to see if it yields one for you.

BoA provides the option to request a CLI via SP if you haven't received an automatic one.

Idk how Chase does it. My first ever card from Chase, Chase Freedom, started at $500 CL over 4 years ago. Still at $500 CL...

My other 2 Chase cards are the Slate and a Freedom Unlimited (Freedom Unlimited opened not too long after the first Freedom) and they have both received generous auto-CLI's in the past 2 years totaling ~ $5K.

I stopped trying to figure Chase out a while ago. Let me know when you do, lol.

I currently have 4 chase cards, oldest opened in 2014, newest opened in 2019. Every one is still at their original starting limits (ranging from 4.5k to 16.6k). I don't feel like the limits are too low for my spend pattern so have never requested a CLI.

Don't hold your breath waiting on an auto CLI from Chase.

The only time I have seen/heard of Chase AUTO-CLI's in any great number was recently with the Amazon Visa card. And even then, the DP's were inconsistent as the increased varied widely. Been a Chase cardholder for years...never received any auto-luv and since CLI's are HP...it sits at its original CL. While I'm sure it happens to some people/profiles....don't hold your breathe

Chase is funny that way. DW has 4 credit cards total and Chase is two of those. She has steadily received auto-CLI's throughout the last 10 years from them. Currently has a Marriott card at $20k and a CSP at $40,700. I had Chase cards prior to BK and never received any kind of CLI from them but I had a lot of cards with a lot of different issuers. Chase seem to be much more relationship focused, at least as far as our anecdotal experience has shown.

I've received 3 auto-CLI's from Chase. 2 on CFU and one on CSP.

The first was after I had CFU for 6 months and one around 12-18 months.

CSP was when I purchased airline tickets and came close to my limit. (~$3800 out of a $5K limit.)

If your profile supports it, Chase seems to auto-CLI if you're giving them enough spend to show that they may be missing out on some swipes with your current credit limit.

One DP I can confirm with Chase is they love a lot a spend on they're cards, but also can be very stingy. I've received multiple auto-CLIs from Chase on CSR with current one happening a couple days ago, and then first coming on the unlimited a month ago. With CSR, I received first after 3-4 months in having the card with it being main driver and 2 more autos along with a HP CLI while carrying a balance within the first year. Now the stingy part, when my credit profile became less than favorable, after paying off a big chunk of the balance, got an AA. To recoup nearly most of your CL I lost, after righting the debt ship and CS soaring, I took a HP CLI. Then now the current auto-CLI after 5 months from last.

Edited: for clarification

Chase can be a stingy beast.

My husband has held three Chase cards for years. First a Chase Freedom, which he opened like 7 or 8 years ago as his first credit card... Still at a $500 credit limit. Chase Freedom Unlimited, which he opened 4 years ago... Still at $3k. Amazon Visa, which he opened a few months before the Freedom Unlimited... Still at $500.

We also use Chase for all our banking and have for years, so they know how much money that's coming through monthly. We used to try to put good spend on those cards but have since moved on, mostly because they don't meet our spending needs. I don't think we've used any of those cards in about a year now. My husband won't request a CLI on principle alone.
