NFCU CLI denied

Bummer. I applied for a CLI on my NFCU Cash rewards card saturday and was denied today.

I tried to follow the guildlines of waiting 90 days between increases. I waited about 95 and got the email saying unable to approve at this time. Have to wait for the letter in the mail to see why, but darn, that sucks

Should I wait another 90 days or try again in 30?

How old is the card?

Your first CLI is allowed 91/3 from issue date (91 days & 3 statements). After that you're allowed CLI requests every 181 days.

If you had an increase 90 days ago that's why you were denied.

NFCU needs to be at least 181 days from last CLI.

Or, is this the 1st CLI you asked for?

Looking at your scores and account ages, I am surprised some of your limits including NFCU are not higher.

I don't have any helpful advice for how long to wait before re-applying. I will note that NFCU gave me a low limit starting out, then rejected my CLI requests for about a year, then started giving me some CLI love last year. I was surprised to see I'm up to $18K on that card. It was $7k last summer, and I haven't used it more since then - if anything, I've used it less (got annoyed with NFCU last year and thought about closing out my account, decided to let it ride). So maybe they just need to warm up to you. Good luck!

that would explain it then. i thought i read here it was every 90 days but guess i confused it.

I have had multiple increases. i just never tracked them before so wasn't paying attention to time. I thought it was every 90 days but guess i not. i'll try again in another 90

You should be good to go after another 90 days or so.

A lot of members here and myself will wait for 185 days just to be safe lol.

I'm sorry for your denial and yes it's every 6 months after an approval . It has been well established by not only data points in the Navy mega thread that has been going on for years but also in the approval section . Once you have the allotted time , smash away

I've yet to get an actual increase on either of my Navy cards. Always the same reason that I've reached the maximum they are willing to extend to me at this time.

Just gonna stay in the garden and wait for some baddies to fall off.

Sorry about your decline...I've been there

Although I personally love NFCU (happy member for 25+ years) I find that NFCU can be a little fickle when it comes to CLI's. I've had the GoRewards for over 4 years (SL $9400) and when I initially requested a CLI was denied - this was probably 2 years into having the card itself, no late payments and pretty heavy use (which could've been a reason for their hesitation). When I was denied, I decided to apply for the Platinum, the next day, and was approved for $20K instantly. So no CLI, but NFCU will give me a new product for more than double SL (I was NOT mad about that, LOL). I just recently received a CLI increase for my GoRewards last month to $15K. Maybe I caught them on a good day

You do have a much better profile than I have, so I am a little surprised that they are holding back. Not sure how long you've been a member (if relationship matters) or the ownership of the card, but I suggest waiting for the letter so you can see why it was declined, and then maybe wait another 91-180 days.

With the profile in your siggy I would bet to say it was just to soon. The only other reason I would guess could be to DTI. How many new cards have you opened recently?
