Pre approved for Capital One but no record of application

Has this happened to anyone? I did prequal and it gave me Quicksilver and Platinum. Said something like your credit profile works for these cards. Apped QS first, declined.

Did Platinum next, said pre-approved with specific % rate. Completed app and it gave me message saying application successfully submitted. You will receive an email shortly.

No email so I called the status number and the guy couldn't find the Platinum app only QS. I did them within one minute of each other.

FYI, burned them in Chap 7 but still have auto loan.

How long ago was your BK filed? Must have been recent. Closer to 1 yr out the better.

What I've learned from @FinStar is that these accounts don't form a relationship, per se, i.e., having a car loan with Cap1 has no bearing on their decisions for CCs, and vice versa.

As for your actual issue, if you still haven't received the promised e-mail for the Platinum, and Cap1 says they have no record of that application, I guess you could try again. But it's probably just some glitch and you'll get that e-mail and/or a snail mail letter within a few days.

The 2nd application was likely supressed (or coded as a duplicate) by their system. If you were declined on the first attempt with QS, you cannot reapply for any other cards until after 30 days have passed, regardless of what the pre-qualification page may offer for a 2nd card (after being declined for the first one).

And, as mentioned above, having a vehicle loan or deposit relationship with Capital One doesn't influence the UW outcome/decision.

Agreed, you can only have 1 app every 30 days regardless of whether it was approved or denied.
