My bad and I'm PIF .. I applied for Citi custom cash card today after reading an approval post today and after going through their pre qualification page which gave me pre approval offer for this card with 16.24% APR . As soon as I applied for it the application went to pending status and upon calling their customer service one rep told me that they need my Income transcripts to process the application.. please let me know if this is common and what are my approval odds here .. thanks in advance !!

It is not common but they have been known to ask. Here's an example from a few months ago about their experience

They want to verify your income first before proceeding with processing your application. If you don't feel comfortable doing so you don't have to comply but they won't possibly approve your app without it. You can just leave it be and all you will have taken is a HP which you will gain the points back in a year. If you do decide to go forward follow their instructions and you should hear back from them about a decision once they receive your tax transcripts
