Truist pre-approval question

Hello,

I am not sure whether I am posting in right place, please move this to right place if required. I checked the truist pre-qualification page today and it was listing all 5 cards and asking me to click accept button. The problem is no credit limit or APR is listed. Will it show the credit limit after clicking accept with a soft inquiry or hard inquiry? If it would have displayed the credit limit on the pre-qualification page, I would have accepted it if SL is more than $10k. Now I don't want to have a hard inquiry with less SL. Please share your experience in this situation.

No limit or APR are displayed with any pre-qualification offers. Once you accept, and if approved, that's when you'll see the approved limit and APR -- not before.

I can't say for Truist specifically. Generally you won't be able to see your SL and APR until after you actually apply for a credit card and they do a HP. The only two creditors I can think of that will show you an SL/APR prior to going through with the full application are FNBO and the Apple Card.

Correct!

Add the GM Card also. They allow you to see the APR and limit, also a G-S product

Right, valid points on the other lenders, but this particular topic is about Truist -- not GS, MbGS, FNBO, etc.

I opened my Truist back in July - hard pull with SL and APR shown only after application approval. I am not sure if it has changed since then.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in their prequalifier. I got approved for all their cards but when I accepted I received some message about not being able to verify my address. I went into a local branch as I decided to open a checking account. I received approval for $6500, the rep told me that most approvals were for less than that. Judging by the approvals on myFICO there have been many for lesser amounts. The rep told me that she could send it for manual underwriting for a higher limit but I have yet to do it. The card is mediocre at best. I did get 15.49% which is their lowest rate but the card is a flat 1.5% cashback with no other benefits such as CDW. The bank has been a pain to deal with the reps being unresponsive. I had my online access blocked and had to go to the physical branch to clear it. While I was in branch the last time all their computers were offline and they couldn't do any business. Overall I have been very unhappy with this bank. I have had many recent approvals, 12k - 15k - and 20k. I never got a hard pull for this card but I wish I had never even applied. Their systems are really slow and while many got multiple approvals before I think that loophole has been shut down.

Imagine if all the creditors that issued credit cards showed your SL and APR before accepting. More than half probably. And even more on here would turn it down and back out of the app. As you mentioned if it was less than 10k you wouldnt accept the offer. Bad for business. As the ole song goes. "You cant get what you want."

I did the pre-qualification last week and had the 5 cards show up as well. I went ahead and selected one and was instantly approved for $5.5K. I heard they normally dont give high starting limits to start so I was ok with what I got. You will not know the limit or APR until you click the button. I chose option 1 of the Enjoy Card which is the 3%, 2%, and 1%. I just got notified my card was mailed. Good luck.

I was approved for $5.5K and that is freshly coming off a ch13. You may get more but won't know until you hit the button. If you are on the fence and won't settle for less than $10K you may want to pass. Just my thought.

I did the preapproval as well over the last 30 days, always preapproved for all 5. Always received the same error about verification - same issue I had with DCU, was approved for credit card and auto loan 60 days ago but when I tried again few weeks ago, I got he same verification error I received with Truist? What changed, I froze all the secondary CRAs. Truist and DCU both use EQv5.

I went to the branch, was preapproved and they physically verified my ID and was approved with an $11k SL. I told the rep to reapply agaín for the 2nd Enjoy Cash 1.5X was approved again for another $11k (2 soft but only 1 hard inquiry). She wanted me to request higher limit and have manual underwriter look at it. I politely declined.

I received the first card on Friday, the 2nd is scheduled for delivery today.

it's an issue with a secondary CRA (I suspect sagestream). If you have a branch, go in and verify your ID.
