Chase Freedom Flex App! Yet another update!

So, I went through some random pre-qualifies tonight just to see what pops up, as I occasionally do. Usually, it's absolutely nothing, expecially with the big players like Chase and Citi. I have literally never ever ever gotten a pre-qual with either of them. But then tonight, Chase popped up with FIVE pre-approved offers! WHAT. NO WAY. Guess all my hard work has paid off!!

I read through the offers and decided the Freedom Flex was more in line with what I want right now, so I pulled the trigger and applied. Got a notice about review, which is expected because I believe they pull Experian, and that's the last bureau I have yet to remove an extended faud alert from (TU and EQ were easy, EX, not so much).

Anyway, I expect a call from them in the next few days to verify that it was me who applied for credit and hopefully (probably?) get an approval! I don't even care at this point what the starting limit is, I just want my foot in the door! My goal right now is to SD my 3 bucketed Cap 1 cards ($500, $600, $1050 limits, have had them for years, they're just stuck with low limits, of course) and move on to higher-tier products. .

So, I guess I'll be answering calls from unknown numbers for the next week or so. Fingers crossed and wish me luck!!

Woke up this morning to an email from Chase requesting I send them proof of my date of birth and physical address, so I just uploaded a copy of my driver's license and last paystub for them. If I don't hear anything today or Monday, I'll give them a call.

When I did the app for the card, it did give me a specific interest rate (vs a range), so I'm feeling pretty optimistic about an approval!

No doubt that is generally a strong indicator of approval on a great card! My initial post was in regards to the pre-qual site not using Chase new account criteria like 5/24. They pre-qualified me for the chase line up and I know I don't qualify because I am 11/24 on a 20 month old credit build, that is a hard no for Chase.

Hopefully you will get your new shinny!

Small update - I called earlier this afternoon to check the status and the robo-lady said my application was in review and I'd be notified in writing in 7-10 days. I opted to speak with a CSR and asked if they could confirm that they received the documents I sent. I was transfered to the verification department, then put on hold for about 5 minutes before the very sweet CSR came back to let me know they did receive them, and that my application would now be able to go through the rest of the review process and it "shouldn't be long now."

Called again a few minutes ago just to see if the robo-lady said anything different, and yep. It has now updated to "two weeks" instead of the 7-10 days. Fingers crossed I get an approval email in the next few days!🤞🏼

Good luck on the Freedom Flex application. I'm sure it will be shortly approved with the new two week message. Having a small range of interest rates and that many preapprovals shows that Chase might finally be openning up. (I've heard 5/24 doesn't really matter when Chase grants preapprovals)

Here's the latest, absolutely boring update -

They called me yesterday (Sunday) at 9am (PT) sharp and woke me up, thanks to my not-so-Smart watch. I missed the call (because I was asleep. Knocked an entire vase of bedside flowers onto my head in my half-awake state trying to get to my phone, but I was too late), so I called them back. They then had to call ME back because of the fraud alert on my report, even tho the rep on Friday told me that part was done and I wouldn't have to deal with the fraud alert part again. I asked specifically. But, whatever. As of now, that fraud alert is no longer even on my report, I'm just freezing them instead because this process is incredibly annoying.

I waited ~15 minutes after the rep said "I'll call you right back, stay by your phone" before calling them again. Got an annoyed rep saying I'll hear back "soon."

Finally got a call from the fraud folks like 3 hours later to verify (again) that I applied for credit. Verified it. Was then told my address has been verified by my submitted document, but the DOB document (drivers license) wasn't "clear enough" and I'd need to submit it again. I'd get an email within a few hours and/or a letter in the mail requesting it.

I don't know what would be clearer than my driver's license showing my DOB and legal name, but maybe my scan of it was too small. So, I resubmitted it after enlarging it to 200% first. I sent it via their online upload and via fax. I could submit my birth certificate, I guess, but since I'm married and my name has changed since I was born, I figured that might be inviting more verification requests.

Both online upload and fax were sent around 11AM PT yesterday. Nothing so far today. Still have the "in about 2 weeks" message if I call to check my application status.

I'm just going to send them my whole firstborn child next. He's almost 30 and a freeloader. They can have him, and maybe that will do it.

After resubmitting my driver's license to verify my DOB with Chase a second time, the robo-lady message changed back to 7-10 days. I waited a couple of days and then spoke with a rep, who told me the application was denied but couldn't tell me why over the phone, and to wait for the letter. Before she told me that, she mentioned, yet again, that I needed to verify my DOB by uploading or faxing a document. WTH Chase.

I haven't received the letter yet, but it's going to be super annoying if it mentions my DOB needing to be verified and/or my documents not being received/good enough lol.

ETA: Sadly, they also did not want to take my 30yo firstborn freeloader. ☹️😂

Sorry to hear about the denial. I've been following this thread because it showed me the same 5 preapprovals, when that seemed ridiculous I could get the CSR/P at this time. I think something funny is going on with the site... fortunately I was able to squeeze in with a $500 limit; however it seems this site is not giving realiable prequals at this time.

Sorry to hear about the denial. I've been following this thread because it showed me the same 5 preapprovals, when that seemed ridiculous I could get the CSR/P at this time. Yeah agreed that it doesn't seem to be giving reliable prequals right now. The thing that pushed me to actually apply was that the prequal I got actually gave a firm APR, so I thought it was pretty safe to apply. Even with that I was denied tho, so I'd def take those prequals with a grain of salt for now.

**bleep**.... That means the Chase preapprovals are really out of order right now. They used to be very solid, I guess their system is just malfunctioning right now or something. It is also very odd that they would ask for the same document so many times. I have a wierd suspicion that they're systems are glitched given that your issue is occuring along with many others being given all preapprovals when it doesn't make sense for their profile or the "new CLI button" on Chase's website. Something is going on at Chase and I'm not sure they even know what is going on.

Another update - the saga continues!

Just got back from a trip today and had the denial letter from Chase waiting for me in the mail. Couldn't wait to rip it open and see what the reason was, because I had a feeling it was related to the DOB verification nonsense. And I was correct. 🙄

The letter said I was denied because they suspected I was the victim of Identity Theft and that the application was denied for that reason (and only that reason). It said to call if they were incorrect. Several pages followed, instructing me on how to deal with ID theft.

I called, mostly because I don't want my information flagged in Chase's system as potential fraud/ID theft in case I app for anything in the future. I explained the letter I got, and the fact that I had sent a copy of my driver's license to them *multiple* times, both via their online upload portal and via fax, and it was apparently still not "clear" enough. I imagine they're receiving faxes on a Stone Age fax machine where a Flintstones dinosaur hammers the incoming image onto a rock for them. And their "online upload portal" is really just a front-end for the exact same archaic fax system they're apparently using. But anyway.

The rep told me I need to resubmit proof of my DOB again, as well as proof of my address - again (which is hilarious to me, because I clearly got the letter they sent to that same address, it's literally why I was calling lol). He suggested I visit a local branch to have them fax it, since the online upload thing and my own faxing didn't seem to be working. Fine. There's a Chase right down the street from me, so I popped over there this afternoon, explained the situation, and had them fax it for me. The rep at the branch was confused as to why I would have applied for a Chase card if I didn't have an account with them, which I thought was funny. Then she said if this didn't work, maybe come into the branch, open an account with all the documents that entails, and see if that might work better. Smooth, but maybe not wrong?

So, now I'm back in limbo again, waiting to see if my latest offering is enough for them to let me in the door. Will update with any new developments. 😂

Putting $300 into a savings account (opened in branch w/ID) got the Amazon Prime Chase card prequal to work for me as opposed to failing to pull my report. I think it's legit.
