Chase IHG card 7-10 day message

Pulled trigger on this card and got a 7 -10 day message. I'm at 4/24. Is this likely verification? Credit score over 800. Have had Chase cards for years. Nothing past due

Chase tells you if you are insta declined at time of app or when you call in?

Chase tells you if you are insta declined at time of app or when you call in?

Time of application least on business went for Ink when supposibly the 5/24 wasn't enforced and was insta-declined about 3 months back i think it was. no 7-10 message just we cant approve you and AA letter or something will be email/mailed. Something to that extent so they arent affraid to say right away at time of application.

I called the application status line and was just told the application is still under review and to call back to check on Monday. Should I be calling reconsideration or something? The app hasn't been denied I just don't think its been looked at

Yes, -- they ask questions, tell you that you're approved/wait for further review.

the worst they can say is that you're going to have to wait, which is what you're going to have to do anyway, be prepared to defend your application regardless if you do call

Yes call Chase talk to verification and then talk to reconsideration.

I called the general number. Wouldn't she have asked me those questions or sent me to verification if that was the case or will those CSR not do anything if they see pending.

@red259 You mentioned that you've had Chase credit cards for years. Do you have several? And are they fairly high limits? I was thinking if this isn't an id verification issue, perhaps, you could be at your max exposure with Chase. If so, would you be willing to allocate some to get the IHG?

Usually they will just reallocate automatically if that is the case. Six months ago they gave me over 12k on aeroplan card If they wanted to take credit from that I wouldn't care. Lot of these cards its more about the benefits they offer and SUBs than it is needing to spend on them.

I didn't get a chance to call in and it got approved anyway. They gave me a minimal credit line of 2k. I'm pretty maxed out with credit from chase because I rarely end up closing their cards. How long does a card need to be open before moving credit from it? I got cards like my aeroplan with large credit lines I have no need for. Beyond the initial spend I'm not sure I will be putting any spend on this card but still the initial spend is 3k so maybe I can move like 2k over to this card so it is a 4k card. Or I guess I could just spend on it max it out and pay it off and fish for the auto cli.

Under the heading of "Maxed out with Chase," I would appreciate hearing more about it. I got no new credit, simply reallocation on my IHG approval, so I started a thread regarding potential maximum credit exposure on Chase/AMEX rotators at >this link<. Data points would be appreciated including TCL and/or total cards.

My card came in the mail today, along with my new AMEX Hilton Surpass. Time to get busy SUB spending.

With chase its a percentage of your total income I believe. Usually I bump up against the ceiling when my credit equals 40% of my annual gross income. I just did the math on my personal credit lines. I have way more credit than I need.

That's correct although they are more apt to allow a higher percentage (i.e. > 50%) if the applicant's income is more modest but they hava a pristine payment history.
