CLI Hard and soft pulls master list?

Hey folks,

Is there a master list somewhere of which banks do soft vs hard pulls for CLI? (Tried searching here first but couldn’t find it)

The OP was asking about CLI's.

The link you provided is for "New Approvals"

CLI DP's would be drastically different.

Oh right. I thought there was info for both in that thread. But as I said , asking who pulls from specific creditors seems to yield both cli and starting limit info as well .

We should definitely start one! Not 100% sure on these but:

Always Soft Pulls:

* Amex

* Discover (except when you reject their offer and ask for reconsideration)

* Capital One (in app)

* Chase (in app)

* Navy Federal (in app)

* Synchrony (Paypal, Care Credit, Car Care, etc) (in app)

Usually Soft Pulls:

* Comenity (AAA, Lane Bryant, Overstock, Bread Amex) — Typically can result in a soft pull, can be a hard pull particularly when it's a large amount &/or you cross a certain threshold (10k, 30k).

* US Bank (don't know the rhyme or reason)

Always Hard Pulls:

* Citi Retail Services (Best Buy, Exxon, Home Depot etc)

Just to add a DP Comenity used to be soft pull CLI but just the other day I was hit with a hard pull on my Boscovs card. I don't know if that's the way it is now or I just got unlucky. It was an increase to $30k so it may have been a certain threshold crossed?

Although unlikely, AMEX has been known to hard pull for CLI. I haven't experienced it but others have reported it.

PNC Bank is also a SP with very confusing wording.

Citi - Core cards will tell you when you are eligible and it is also a SP.

BOA is a SP and could reallocate credit lines from another card.

I got CLI yesterday with Wells F. The credit line manager gave mere lip service to inquiry not stating what kind of inquiry he would perform or the principle it embodies when he asked for permission to review my credit file.

I have to wait and see if a HP shows up on any of my reports.

@JtAlmond I always consider it'll be a HP when it's stated it might be a HP.

Apple is a soft pull too.
