Hello, after a few months, my credit is back to the normal and I am getting offers from decent credit cards.

However, one card that I really want is Amazon Visa w/ Chase. I have persistently tried pre-approval and getting rejected.

I am wondering if has something to do with Chase because I got blacklisted for no good reason more than a decade ago.

Does Amazon have any sway in terms of approving my card? Or is the application totally decided by Chase?

the underwriting is chase

chase might have slightly different underwriting for the amazon card compared to their other cards, but it's completely up to Chase at the end of the day

any reason the synchrony store card or the amazon business prime card wouldn't work for you?

Go for it!

I never got any pre-approval from them and then cold app for Chase Prime, was surprise with huge approval! Of course this was after Amazon whipped Chase in to shape to make them do better policy changes.

BTW I was over 5/24 at that time too. So I would say you should have a decent chance even without any pre-approvals.

I agree with @CYBERSAM that you should just go ahead and apply.

No, Amazon doesn't have any sway over any particular card application, but they appear to have used their good offices to convince Chase to be a little less rigid with this card than it is with its core cards.
