Hi Everyone!

I want to add the Amex Platinum Card to my wallet, as I travel a lot for work and think the access to the Centurion Lounges would more than be worth the $695 annual fee. My question is - for those of you that were approved for it, where was your credit score at time of approval?

I'm at a 670 credit score, with my only baddie falling off my report at the end of January, which I hope will increase my score to above 700, or just around it. Also, as of Feb. 2024, I'll have a proven track record with Amex Delta for 4 years. I've never missed a payment, used HEAVY spend on my account, though I haven't paid off the balance every month.

When I login to the credit card page, I do get a message that says "You May Qualify to Open the American Express Gold Card", and when I click the "Apply Now" button for the Platinum card, I see the message "Know if you're approved for this Card with no impact to your credit score". I know in the past if it said "Expand your membership.." that would mean you're not preapproved. Does the above mean the same, or is there a better chance that I could be preapproved?

Score if fine fine a platinum especially since you have an existing relationship with AMEX and also with existing relationship it is 99% a SP if you have a card open with them. AF > Fico for that card as they can stop you at 2k spend or whatever they deem safe with you. If you think that card will fit you I would be shocked if you were declined and won't hurt you if you are since already an AMEX card holder.

I concur, since you have 4 years of good history with one of their revolvers I'd also be very surprised if you weren't approved.

Also others have reported being approved for Plat with scores in upper 600s, so it's not uncommon.

agree with above, just apply, do look for a 150k point offer though, don't take an 80k points offer, leaving points on the table
