Credit Cards with Generous SL

I have very good credit, my FICO scores are from 775 to 800

I'm looking to apply for a credit card that has 0% for balance transfer. I want to get a fairly high starting credit limit.

My other credit cards CL (5) range from $15,000 to $30,000. One credit card is very stingy which is Capital One with a CL of $5000.

From your experience which credit card has a generous SL?

BT cards are always a dangerous game because there's a risk you won't get a CL you need for the BT, what is your current utilization?

The safest BT option is Chase if you already have limits with them, because you'll be able to move limits from other cards to a slate and get 0% for 18 months on a limit you'll know you have access to because you'll be able to move limits over

I have Amazon Prime with Chase with $15000 CL. My overall utilization rate is about 25%

If I get Chase Freedom unlimited...I will not be able to transfer my Amazon Prime balance...I can transfer some from my other credit cards..

There are many factors that play into lender underwriting when determining credit limits - your income, credit history, other comparable credit limits, etc.. will be part of the criteria used, so you'll get a lot of different answers to your question and I wouldn't extrapolate others CLs and experiences to you.

I know that it would differ from one person to another. My question is based on ONE'S experience applying to different credit cards. One credit card could stand out as the most genrous with SL. For example, from my experience applying to different cards, Amex was the most generous, Discover it was 2nd. Capital one was the worst.

Just my personal datapoint; prior to Chase approving me for my first card my most generous SL was from PenFed at $6,000. I hadn't intended on applying to Chase as I burned them in my 2015 Chapter 13, however, when I was opening up two deposit accounts I was asked if I wanted a credit card as well. Bang, a new CSP with an SL of $11,700, and then six month later they sent me a preapproval for a CFU; I took the bait and was approved for $23,600.

I wasn't in the market for any new cards, but I didn't say no to Chase for either of these.

WF approved me for a 30K limit on their BILT Rewards card 22 months after my 13 DC, and Kinecta Credit Union approved me for their VISA with an SL of $35K 20 months post-DC. Those are my highest right now, I figure if they would take a chance on me with those limits so soon after DC, they must be pretty generous overall.

Looks like Discover, Chase freedom, US bank and Wells Fargo have 0% balance transfer offers .

Disco doesn't normally start out big , Chase can but have no experience with US or WF.

WF BILT doesn't have a 0% on balance transfer. But their SL is fantastic..

Yeah, I was surprised to get the CSP, much less at that SL, and then when the CFU landed I was pretty much dumbstruck.

I have an Amazon Prime which is Chase. They started with $10,000 SL, then 6 months later they raised it to $15,000.

I'm wondering if that would help my chances with a good CFU SL

@AJ67 If you're going to play the BT game, than you need a credit union CC with 0 balance transfer fee so you can move the balance around or even back to the same card when you have a good offer!

Not all credit unions are open to the public. Do you have any suggestion as to which credit union cc I should try?

In my opinion the best balance transfer cards are the credit union, platinum, non-rewards cards with no balance transfer fee. Examples: Langley, BECU, NFCU, Chartway, Dept of Interior, Unify. But there are many out there.

@AJ67 Just to add more to @SouthJamaica list, DCU and Redstone CU are easy to get in with, they also offer 0 BT fees. You can get pre-approval for their cards after couple of months of being a member with only SP.

You should look around for local CUs and see what they offer. As long as they do credit cards in-house and not outsource through Elan Financial they should have a low APR, 0 BT cards.

Baxter CU, can get in through "Life.Money.You" they are pretty good at offering nice SL and have decent Balance Transfer options.

FNBO will tell you how much your SL will be in their SP Prequal tool and their Travel card "Getaway" has a BT offer.
