I just ran my pre approval with both BOA and Wells. I know BOA doesn't have a pre approval but it showed me their cards and i am thinking about the Platinum card with 0% for 18 months. Wells Fargos pre approval listed several cards that I am pre approved for including the 0% for 21 months Reflect card. My current limit with my WF card is 8k which was my Sl on a active cash card. Anyone know if my chances are good for a higher SL on Reflect since I have a pre apporval for it? Just fyi i was not pre approved for the Active cash or any other card back in Feb and just cold apped for it and got a instant approval for 8k. Also US bank gave me a pre approval for their platinum card by clicking the blue button and running my info. Any idea what my SL may be with them or if it would be as big as WF or BOA? I do not bank with US bank.

Any idea which bank or card may give a higher SL? Thank you for any help on this matter.

Well I called US bank and they gave me the apr but not the credit limit and said i would need to apply before i could get that info. I have known US bank to usually start small; especially if you dont have a relationship with them and i do not. So i will pass on US bank.

I am pre approved for the Wells Fargo Reflect card but have no clue what my SL would be with them. My active cash SL was 8k over 6 months ago. I do not have a bank of america relationship but have seen some pretty decent SLs with them so they are an option. USAA usually gives pretty good SL but with what happened with navy im spooked now. I am pre approved with Discover but again have no clue what my SL would be. I do believe one of these is my best choice and i dont want to keep applying for new cards so it's just a gamble. Any advice for which of these cards to pick would be much appreciated.

And zero zero revolving dti. He has maybe 15k left on his car note. 850/850/850 fico scores and 20 years AAOA.

Another example, the same roommate applied for an Amex Personal and Amex Business Card the same day and got 25k on both cards SL. Lowest APR.

Bank of America, if they really like your profile can far exceed both Amex and WF SL's in my opinion as can Chase.

Chase ink cards grow drastically if income supports it. I have a few clients with limits in excess of over 100k. But they're not known to give out such substantial limits out the gates.

Discover, I would assume anywhere from 9k to 12k on the SL. I did want to mention that Discover can grow quick. They've given me back to back increases on mine 4 months apart. But you have to put spend on the card. I've seen a few cases where Discover Limits are in excess of 30k.

Banks almost never like to the first to hand out a large SL asides from the likes of NFCU who will hand out a 25k limit as a first card.

Honestly though, I'd give Jovia a shot. They're likely to give a large SL.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I don't know if my reply is even relevant, but I had a BofA card (forgot which - but I got 3% CB from spending on online transactions). It sat at a $3.1K SL for about three years, never got an increase, and they eventually reduced it to $1.5K because of balances on other accounts (was around $69K, paid down now to about $37K). I should've kept the card open, but I personally hate BofA, so I closed the account. I'll never do business with them again.

With Wells, I have a card that started as a $1K SL. I've changed products at least twice, and now have the Autograph. They have done incremental increases over time, but not high. It's now sitting at a $11.3K SL. The card sees at most about $65 a month, and always gets PIF.

Had US Bank about 15 years ago and got a relatively high limit from them, but got caught up in the 2008 recession effects and that got charged off years ago (judgment has also long since expired), so I couldn't give a DP about them.

I honestly think I could've received more but I was conservative with my income since I didn't have a relationship with them. They do not ask for documentation. I got a Platinum card with 18 months at 0%. They recently auto increased me by $5k. My experience with them has been great thus far. I get mailers for a business card with them all the time but have no need at the moment.

Both WF and BOA have been decent as far as limits and increases. I think BOA is more likely to be generous with their limits than WF. These are my oldest cards and I rarely use them and I have been able to get decent increases over time. These are soft pull increases last time I checked.

Another idea looking at the cards in your signature is to build with your current credit unions. With Penfed & Navy you can apply for a new card AND ask for a CLI with only one inquiry. Not sure of your goals but that's a great way to build your limits. I've done that with both successfully. If you're truly focused on 0% then you may want to go the other route. Also... pay attention to which bureau BOA & WF pull from. Another tactic I've used in the past is to apply for multiple cards that use the same bureau at the same time. (two diff windows open or use computer and phone). If you apply at the exact same time the inquiry won't hit in time for the other to see. i.e. if both use experian then just apply at the same time and the inquiries will hit later after you're approved or denied. Just a few suggestions from experience. Good luck!

USB is indeed somewhat a toss of a dice when it comes to starting CL.

Since my approvals were several years ago it may not apply today but I'll relate my experience. With no relationship I went for the Cash+ and it went pending so I called and I was sent to an underwriter and was asked what limit would suit my needs. Just blurted out 25k and he paused and offered 20k. Needless to say I accepted.

A year later same happened with the Go card. I was asked by a very friendly lady if 10 would be okay and half joking said 20 would be better and without hesitation she said sure.

Both sit at 28k today.
