My application for an Air France KLM Bofa card has been declined. The reason is: "One or more of your accounts with us and/or our affiliates has recently been declined for a credit line increase".

With Bank of America, I got a Sonesta credit card on 8/1/2024. Then, on 8/15/2024, I requested a credit line increase and I was declined. 1 month later, I was denied the Air France Bofa card because of the previous declined request.

When can I re-apply for the same Air France Bofa card and not be declined?

I have a Bofa checking and savings account.

If I may, why did you apply for a CLI when your account wasn't even one month old, or (sorry if I am wrong) the first statement cut? Normally, you would need to wait 90 days and three statements to cut before you would be considered. You can certainly re-apply at any time, but you may need to wait for the 90 days / three statements on your Sonesta card before you have a shot at an approval for the next BofA card.

I had to pay a roof silicone coating at $8000, and the Sonesta credit card gave SUB of 120,000 bonus points after spending at least $2,000 on purchases, and 30,000 bonus points on your Account Anniversary, if you spend at least $7,500 on purchases in the anniversary year. So I thought I could get enough purchases to get 150,000 bonus points in one shot.

I never asked for a CLI in my life, but my credit limit was $4000 and I asked to increase it to $8000. I didn't know I had to wait before asking that. I was a beginner on that matter.

So if I applied on 8/1/24 for my Sonesta card, does it mean that I have to wait until 11/1/24 before re-applying for the Air France Bofa card?

It's a flat roof. It's white and smooth and I won't have a roof leak for at least 10 years. I'm in South Florida. I also paid $1800 to repair the ceiling because of the roof leak I had.

Oof, yeah the 90 day 3 statement rule is one of those unwritten rules that you'd have to learn about either through denials or via this forum. The general rule is after an account is approved, most banks require at least three statements plus 90 days before you're eligible to request your first increase. After that, every six months is the rule of thumb. Be warned, that with some banks requesting a CLI incurs a hard inquiry. Some banks do CLIs via soft inquiries, so I would highly recommend doing some research before doing another request. I would wait until November before applying, and also set up a recurring direct deposit of even just $5 into your BofA checking account if they aren't your main bank.

They've been known to be a little more lienent on UW when evaluating apps for customers with open deposit accounts with even just $5 being regularly direct deposited monthly. It still majorly is based on your credit report, but it may help your chances. It certainly helped me when I was approved for my Alaska visa through them around 3 months ago.

The the 90 days / three statements wait time, is it only for Bofa card application or for any credit card application?
