First off, thank you all for the information I've gleaned over the last few years. Covid physically destroyed me and my credit went with it. After a lot of work... and some work by a credit repair place (I know I know, but you do what you gotta do) I'm finally on the upswing and looking to rebuild.

I've had my eye on that amazing Langley card, so I joined last month and am starting to build a relationship.

that being said, my file is a bit thin at the moment. I have a first premier card $300 credit limit, a $300 credit one card (both paid off) and my sister added me to one of her cards with a 40k limit to give me a boost.

So, I'm looking to get better cards and build up.

I currently have pre-approvals from discover and capitol one for unsecured cards and I've been told that if I go for a visa-branded store card from city thag I probably have a good chance (but that was also by a Best Buy employee who wants the card signup).

my question is twofold: first, is it worth even trying for the Langley card at this time?

second, if you had my credit profile (and let's hope you never do) which of those cards would you go for?

I should also mention that I have a three inquiries on EQ and four on TU due to some double pulls that I'm trying to get off.

thank you

Lastly which Langley credit card are you interested in ?
Secondly, Do your wallet a favor replace and close the First Premier with a card that has far less fees.

Hey Andy , thanks for the response.

the inquiries are about four months old except for one that came from another cu. Was looking to open a savings and they hard pulled me. No warning just a hard pull. I'm still pretty upset about it a month later.

As for Langley, I'd love the signature cash back visa, and my score is there but, as you can tell, my file is thin. I'd like to start a relationship with them, though and build credit. What do you think? Where do I start?

as for first premier, exactly! I opened it to build Credit but I want to close it ASAP. That's another reason I'd like to get 2-3 cards without the terrible fees and low limit.

what would you do?

thanks

@ThePortet when I applied for the signature cash back visa my scores then are about the same as what is in my siggy. I had zero inquires on Equifax I got 5000 credit limit and was able to recon and received 10k. I had one new credit card account opened about 6-7 months before that.

I would wait signature cash back visa for a while if it was me. I might suggest the quint card that has some rewards on it. The score requirements are lower you might get better results.

Capital One and Discover have soft pull credit limit increases, so if you get a small limit you can increase it over time. So I would treat that Langley card as a goal card, and wait until you're in a position to be approved for it with a decent starting limit.
