Looking To Get An Amazon Prime Visa

Hi there! Pretty new in the credit game, so I have a pretty slim file, but I am really looking to get approved for the Amazon Prime CC as I do a lot of amazon spend (churning).

Current List Of Cards

- Cap1 QuickSilver AU (Opened 4 Years Ago)

- Cap1 Savor (Opened 6 Months Ago)

- Amex Gold (Opened 2 Months Ago)

I know chase usually likes to see 1 year of credit history, but I have seen posts about leninecy on the amazon card. What do you think? My scores on all bureaus are around 750. Thanks

pre-approval didn't give me a positive result. I've heard though that that specific pre-approval has been pretty inaccurate as of late though based on other DPs from this forum

I got the Prime Visa one year ago to the day (almost). It looks like the INQ was a year ago tomorrow.

I do not recall my score at the time, but it was certainly lower than 750. I even had a 30 day late in the prior 12 months at the time. I have no idea whether Amazon spend enters the approval equation, but if it does, I am a heavy Amazon spender.

I am definitely not telling you that you are good for approval, but anecdotally I think the Prime Visa card has a lower barrier to entry than many other Chase cards.

I had scores in the high 700s/low 800s, a much longer history than you, and was pre-approved for the Amazon card. Chase still denied me after they did a hard pull. Never even got a letter as to why. This was like the third crappy thing they pulled on me in a years time. Needless to say I am not a fan.

As we all know, credit card approvals are much more than FICO scores. In the case of Chase, for example, recency and quantity of new credit lines has a "yes/no" relationship with approvals.

I called and the rep said the reason line in the database was blank. She had never seen that before and said I needed to wait for the letter which would explain the reason. I never got a letter. Called back and was told the same thing again: wait for the letter. Never came.

In the end I am glad I didn't get the card because I ended up getting a BCE with no hard pull. I don't have Prime so the Amazon card was going to be 3% on Amazon only. BCE is 3% on all online shopping including Amazon, Walmart Pay, Home Depot app, etc. It's a much better card.

I think your chances for approval are pretty good. Go for it.

Mine was approved back in 2017, but with a CL of only 3k. That was with a thick credit file and regular spend on Amazon.

Probably 6 years, on a thick credit file of 50 tradelines.

AoOA would be over 20.

AoYA would be one year.

You probably have a good chance of approval, especially with your 4 years of AU. I personally would lean towards applying if I was in your situation.

your credit history isn't long enough to get a chase card, I would just wait, if you apply, you'll probably be denied

Chase typically likes to see one year reported credit history. However they have made Amazon CC easier to get compare to other cards. If you have a Chase branch near you, it would help to check and see if they would preapprove you for any cards! If so, then app for Amazon, otherwise wait another 6 months.

You can app and see what happens! if denied, they try again in 6 months. Chase Prime is one of the best cards out there, so not blaming you wanting to be anxious.
