Are BofA self-requested CLI’s requiring a HP?

For as long as I can remember, when I put through for a CLI request with Bank of America online, it has never been a hard pull. Perhaps this language was always there and I chose to ignore it or I have just been fortunate to have not had them choose to do an HP when I've submitted an application.

I honestly can't remember this disclaimer being there before. Is this new and have people submitted requests and not received a hard pull in the process? Or is this their new requirement for each request? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

BoA switched to using soft pulls instead of hard pulls from Transunion (if you had a hard pull for something else within the last 30 days even if it was from Experian they would reuse that) in response to CLI requests just under 7 years ago but the boilerplate language about obtaining a copy of your credit report remained unchanged. There were a couple of people within a couple of weeks after the change that claimed their CLI requests triggered a hard pull but since then I've never seen anyone comment about an inquiry from a CLI request since then.

Thanks so much @coldfusion I knew you'd have the answer since you helped me get this card in the first place. I have been requesting CLI's since and likely never paid attention to the bullet points before hitting submit in the past. Thanks so much.

It was a SP and they approved exactly what I asked for 🥂

Congrats on your CLI, @cashorcharge! I just stopped in to say that I've requested probably 10 CLIs from BoA over the last 3 years and none of them have resulted in a HP. About half of them have been approved, the other half denied.
