I guess it's possible ? But I didn't even get that far.

I clicked on offers and it immediately asked me for some information and told me I couldn't move on without entering the info. then told me my application was successful.

when I went to that section in the past I never had any issues, never accidentally applied. I just figured since it was a new account it needed to populate the offers based on my information/location.

It didn't look like there was any way to skip it, but it's possible I just wasn't paying close to enough attention.

I had a huge glitch with the Amex app tonight. I went to the offers section where it says all the offers currently offered. You know for example it may say "spend $100 at gucci and get $25 back"

when I went there it asked my for my name and date of birth, which I thought was weird. But I figured it was due to the fact that I just got a new Amex so maybe I had to put In my info so it would generate the offers.

it then took me to a screen saying thanks for your application and I immediately got an email saying my application was being reviewed. So of course I immediately called Amex and it turned out instead of going to the offers section, the app had me apply for an authorized user card, for myself.

so I would have my main card under my name and then an AU card, under my name. (Which I didn't even know was possible)

I had them cancel the application but still, this shouldn't have happened.

There's always an offer in that section for rewards points if you add an AU and they spend a certain amount. You probably just clicked that without realizing

All it said was "to continue to the offers section, fill out this form.

I know Amex pushes AU cards HARD. So far every single time I have called customer service they have immediately tried to push me on an authorized user card.

i tell them "I don't know I don't really have anyone I trust enough to give them a card for which I'm completely responsible"

and they still try to push one! lol. So I'm not surprised that their app has little sections that let you apply, but if your customers are applying for things without even knowing it. That's probably something they should address, even if it's an honest mistake. I mean if it happened to us, it's probably happened to a lot of people.

When I applied for gold business card they did try to sneak in an AU app as well that wasn;t too obvious unless you realy slowed down and read it during the app process. I'm usually too juiced about the signup bonus and pending approval to take my time during these the apps, so it almost got me that time as well.
