nope.

waste of an inquiry. My last and only friend to get this card was a 780 with barely any new accounts or inquiries 175k a year in income, and got approved barely for 5k. then within week, there was some weird fraud thingy and she had to have the card replaced. on the upside, it was a full visa siggy, and when she did use it (she got 60k bonus miles) she was able to charge 50% MORE than her initial limit of 5k. So that's a plus, but it's a hard card to get even when your ducks are in a row.

So I got a target mail offer for the Bank of America Alaska Visa Card. 70K and 30% off flight after $3K in 3 months. I am considering this offer over the BILT Mastercard which doesn't have a sign up offer but if I can't get the Visa Signature version, I'd rather just go for the BILT Mastercard. Here are my data points.

Experian FICO 8 - 682-690

Credit Utilization - 27.92% (59% without authorized user accounts)
Credit History - 1 Year 4 Months (12 Year 6 Months on Authorized User Card)

Late Payments - 0

Inquires - 0/6, 9/12, 13/12

An 680-690 Experian FICO 8 score is high enough to get you considered for an approval.

Do you have any open deposit accounts of your own with BoA?

Out of the applications you made over the last 12 months that led to the 9 inquiries how many of them led to card approvals?

Aew any of your other current open cards (ignore AU accounts) bank cards(MC/Visa/AMEX/Discover) with a $5K+ credit limit reporting?

Has the utilization on your cards (ignore the AU impact) been fairly consistent recently or did it take a big jump in the last 2-3 months?

Yes my UA Gateway just went from $2K to $5K but it happened right after the closing date so I don't think BOA would see it, my CSP is at 5K and my Amex BBP is at 6K. As for the inquired, 3 led to card approvals in the last year and I don't have any deposit accounts with BOA. My utilization did jump the past few months so that's why my score went from like a 710 down to where I am right now. And to note my last card that was opened was Dec 2024.

BoA has a 3/12 rule for applicants that don't already have an open BoA CC or deposit account, 7/12 for existing clients.

You already have a couple of cards with at least $5K limits which is good, but be mindful that BoA is less about big starting limits and more about generous CLIs when cards are frequently used with balances promptly PIF.

The invitation to apply would have been based upon your credit profile from 2-3 months ago, the bigger the change in your current status from what it was 3 months ago the more impactful it can be to your odds of approval.

I was under the impression the 2/3/4 rule only applies to BOA cards. So if I had opened 3 BOA cards in the past year they'd deny it vs opening 3 cards with different lenders.

Sounds like if you go boa opening an account first might help.
