topic WF BILT Mastercard in Credit Card Applications

So I got denied for the WF BILT Mastercard and it seems like the general reason where high credit utilization (53% and 27% w/ AU accounts) and lack of credit history. Some of the reason that were listed does have me questioning a few things along with the credit score they pulled.

These were the reasons word for word

-Amount owed on bank or retail credit card or non-home equity credit line with the highest balance relative to the credit limit is high

-Amount owed on bank cards is too high relative to the credit limit in the last 6 months

-Credit accounts opened to recently (We look for a history that shows how you've managed credit over time)

-Amount owed on bank cards is too high relative to amount owed on all credit accounts

They also pulled a 665 (My credit score went from a 665 to a 684 on June 17 and the application was on July 1)

Reasons 1 and 4 are simple enough too high of a credit utilization. Reason 2 makes me wonder if they even pulled a FICO 8 score. Reason 3 I'm wondering if its lack of credit history or too many accounts opened recented because I was at 0/6 and 3/12.

The 665 makes me question what type of score they used because on Experian. My FICO 8 is listed as a 684.

And is anyone able to clarify reasons 2 and 3?

Wells Fargo doesn't use FICO 8 for scoring. I've seen a couple of recent suggestions that they are now using FICO 10 but at a minimum they've been using EX FICO 9 for a while, and that's the score they still provide to account holders who enroll (free) in Credit Close-Up.

When multiple reasons are given for a denial they're legally required to be listed in order from most to least important in making the decision, so the 2 biggest/most relevant reasons you were denied were #1) high utilization on one of your cards (i.e. those you're responsible for payment, AU cards don't count) and #2) high aggregate utilization across all your bank cards (i.e. basically Visa/MC/AMEXDiscover whether core or co-branded). #3 is more likely tied to you having opened 3 accounts in the last year than an overall lack of credit history, that's a factor with WF whose relevancy is to some extent weighed on a case by case basis but it's something that is considered even with thick/aged profiles with 800+ FICO 8/9/10 scores.
