Pre Approved for Chase Amazon Prime Visa but not Chase Sapphire Reserve (Currently at 8/24)

So Chase has continously pre approved me for the Amazon Prime Visa. However, I'd really like the Sapphire Reserve. I am sitting at 8/24 and historically with Chase, they have never autoapproved me for anything, I've always gotten my approvals through underwritting. So would it be possible to get Chase underwritting to approve me for the Sapphire Reserve? I've seen some data points that people have been getting approved for the Sapphire Reserve while over 5/24. I'm currently sitting at 8/24 and won't drop below until August 2026. My FICO 8 score is sitting around a 750.

it's not a risk worth taking, IMO

just assume that being over 5/24 means you're going to be denied for anything other than the Prime Visa.

with chase clamping down on ink bonuses and CSP/CSR every 4 year SUBs, you only have to do the wait once and then you're free to head right back up to LOL/24

Sapphire Reserve is so expensive. This might be a blessing in disguise.

It's rare to see a Chase approval for one of their non co-branded products at 5/24+. With a co-branded product like the Amazon card, that rule doesn't apply. I remember a data point on here from ~5 years ago where someone was 30/24 and was approved for the Amazon card.

Bummer, the CSR is a card that I really want to add to my set up. Are there other possible ways to get the CSR, especially for the people who've clained that they've been approved for the card while over 5/24. I've only been seeing people say they've been approved for the Prime Visa and the CSR while over 5/24 so I'm wondering that Chase approves people for the CSR because of the high annual fee and them wanting your money especically if you have very few cards with them. (I curently hold 2 Chase cards)

There was rumor that Chase was approving people above 5/24 around the time of the card refresh, but a number of people didn't receive the new cardmember bonus. Reddit Post

That'd be a tough sell for me. I'm planning to keep the card but the SUB was well over $1000 in Chase points...

I would say no. in an inflationary environment, 25% of Fico 08 scores are between 800 and 850.

the "good" score of 700 of yesteryear doesn't mean much any more.

I got the Prime Visa with 13/24. LOL

@RobertS2 and bankrate found based on a silly survey that 82% of credit card rewards go unused, or canceled by the bank.

so imagine you pay what.. an $800 annual fee basically like couponinig thinking oh JEE, I'm gunna pay 800 and get 2700!!!!! oh whhooo weee boo dat's a good deal.

bam you open, you pay the fee, they decided to not let you use any of that incredulous culmination of 2700 worth of goodies (think redemptiom time - too much work for me) and you've already paid the fee. and at 750.. if you dip to 720 for "this card" they'll start lookin atcha for rando closo.

Chase is too much risk for ME as a consumer.

Caveat emptor my friend!

I'm currently sitting at an EX FICO 8 of 757
