NFCU - recent CLI experiences?

I'm currently under contract for a new construction home and I cannot take any hard pulls between now and July.

Data on whether NFCU is a HP or SP seems to be all over the place. Can anyone provide recent data points to their experience? Did you request online, or via the mobile app? Thanks in advance!

I have been a member of NFCU since August 2022, and was approved for the NFCU Amex right away. I started with a 2.5K SL and am now up to a CL of 80K on two cards. Consistent CLI approvals and I have never received a HP for a CLI. I was already up to the 80K by early 2025.

My last CLI request was a soft pull 4 months ago. I used the website, with my reports frozen.

it's a SP and you can keep reports frozen, just do it on the website or the app, don't call

Should be a SP but is there a reason you need a CLI from them now versus waiting until you're closed ?

Not particuliary, but if I can grow it with a SP and increase my overall limits, why not?

I got the usual $8000 last month. It was not instant. I had to wait the weekend to get approved.

No HP with my request from the App.

As a general rule, keep your reports frozen except when applying for something. I think this would be extra important during something big like purchasing a home.

One advantage of having your reports frozen is when asking for something that you think will be a SP, but you're not sure. Some lenders can't tell you if it's a HP or SP, you have them frozen and just tell them to go for it.

My only NFCU CLI was this past November. It was a SP.

Update: My reports are frozen. I requested a CLI last week and still haven't heard anything. I did note that my 3rd statement never cut on the 10th, like I expected. I had no activity on my account since January, so no statement. Not sure if that 3rd statement is a crucial requirement to the CLI or if it's just because it satisfies the 91 day requirement, but I don't have one.

To directly answer your question, 4 days ago I asked for a CLI for my Cash Rewards Plus card. No hard pull. Went from $20,500 to $28,500. Used the web site. They gave the standard "blah blah under review" and then two days later the CLI was in effect. Very clearly automated, as it's always been.

The card has gone from $500 SL, 2.5 years ago, to $28,500 currently.

$500 > $1500 > $4500 > $12,500 > $20,500 > $28,500

No HP ever. I just made sure that 6 statements cut with the most recent limit printed on the statement before asking for a new one. This time I asked two business days after the 6th statement cut at $20,500 and before even making the payment on the card. Been doing this like clockwork. The one time I messed up and asked before the 6th statement cut, I was denied. Waited a week and was approved.

I just received a sp cli this month. Requested through the app, instant +$8000 aporoval. My reports are frozen.

I had an $18k limit, which has held a high balance for a few years now but steadily coming down to just under 50% utilization. I requested online last week, got an immediate $6k increase no HP. New limit of $24k showed within 24hrs.

An additional data point...

I requested another CLI through the website login with my reports frozen. I received an increase of $8k the next day. It had been 186 days since my previous request, and I had also done a product change in between. So, the PC did not affect the timing of my CLI eligibility.

Been a member for 12 years, never had a HP. I took my time building the Cash Rewards but recently got that last CLI to $50k. Took 2 days after requesting.
