Is Capital One great now?

I think it is hilarious how so many people bash Capital One every day, say how terrible they are, yet this forum is now completely filled with threads about the Venture and even the Quicksilver -- both are now the best thing since sliced bread. I am happy to see it, because I have always defended my Capital One Quicksilver, but it's just funny to me how all of a sudden Cap One can do no wrong because they gave out some high limits, so now everyone assumes they will get approved and get a high limit.

I am glad though because hopefully, the Capital One bashing will cut down! I guess people have "forgotten" the supposed shortcomings of Cap One that they so frequently argue? I am just curious how, if they are so terrible, the prospect of a high limit eliminates all debate about them? It's just funny to me.

I haven't seen this much hype over a card since I have been on these forums (3 months), and it is not even a new card!

I think they're great. But I had that opinion prior to Venture Mania. They gave me a chance when things were in the tank.

I've always liked them, and had no issues, so I am glad to see that clearly some people are changing their minds about them.

Umm no they are not But thats my own personal opinion based on experience. My view hasnt changed regardless of the limits I've seen the last couple days. Although I will agree with you it is quite amusing that some are suddenly singing their praises after bashing them not even one week ago Long live the bandwagon mentality

Far from great lol.. They are going to be known for lousy CSR's. I am one that dind't fall for this, just because of my nightmares in the past with them. You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it is still a pig.

With that said, I still think the QS is the best cash back card there is on the market as no mins to redeem and rewards post pretty much immediately.

I agree with heavenly... People are now singing a bit of a different song about cap1, just not me.. I beat to my own drummer or singer in this case

I've never had a bad experience with Capital One so until that changes, they're great to me.

I don't like them nor do I hate them. I am in the middle and will take advantage of whatever they have. I rarely call their CSRs anyway. My love will always be for only 1 CCC and that is Chase. Took me in.. I can't forget so we are all different.

I neither like nor hate them. That's not to say i dont have any complaints about them. But half of the village getting approved with high limits isn't a reason for me to app for any of their cc's. None of their cc's appeal to me.

No.

And I still think the Average credit QS and QS1 sucks.

And their CS is still junk.

But a decent limit helps.

What i cannot figure out is, i had 3 cap one cards due to some crazy things.... one was a orchard one was a discover one was a cap one, they all became cap one. Got a sparks business. All were 500 dollar cards, for years im talking 6 or 8 years, then one day all became 3000, apply for this card and bam 10gs, no annual fee. All others have a fee. So im thinking about what to do, as far as eliminating fees. So after hating cap one, for years ive some how obtained 24k in credit with them. Is the world ending? Are they packing up in 6 mths?? Do you think its a push to pay samuel? So i say hey if it helps util, and its fee free why not?

Cause the taxpayers are going to have to give them another 4 billion in bailout money as history repeats itself .. Granted they aren't the only offender by any means of taking our money.

I think they're okay overall. Nothing special though their Facebook customer service sucks a lot. Phone CSR is also pretty average to me. Chase, Discover, and Amex provide much better customer service by far but at the same time, I think Citi's CS can be even worse than CapOne's depending on who you talk to.

I'm also still annoyed how I can't get the Venture despite being with them for nearly a year now and wish they actually had a real recon team.

If it weren't for Capital One, I wouldn't be where I'm at today. No one would have been willing to deal with me two years ago or even a few months ago.

Cap 1 is Cap 1........really don't hate them nor do I love 'em. They open the door for lots of people and have helped a lot get a leg up. My only problem with them is if you have other cards and do not use Cap 1 a lot, you are stuck with a crappy CL. Many times you are stuck with an AF that lasts, and lasts, and lasts. They recently upgraded one of my cards to a Venture One.......and denied me for a Venture card. Their CSR's are of little help with major problems and as far as I am concerned often ill-informed. So the Venture approvals have done little for Cap 1 as far as I am concerned.......doubt it will change the minds of us long time Cap 1 customers.

Cap1 took a chance on me when no other company would. Now they have given me my first 5 digit limit. I will not bash them. Thank you Cap1!

I won't bash their prime nor their subprime operations because they really do help people out and offer a great alternative over the vulture credit issuers.

But i'll say it here just like i've said it before. If you're between subprime and prime. Don't walk, RUN!
