Wells Fargo Rewards Card APPROVED....THEN DENIED?????????

Applied for the Wells Fargo rewards card last week and was instantaly approved for 8k. Got a confimation email saying I was approved and would receive the card in 5-7 days.....UMMMM...I just received a letter in the mail saying that I was denied for "Lack of or insufficient duration of relationship with wells fargo". I had a checking account with them for about three years and a secured card for 2 years but closed both of them in November. I just got of the phone with a representative. She put me on hold and spoke with an underwriter and said that I would need to come into the bank to apply again and it would be another HP!!!! WELLS FARGO is the WORST!

Wow that really sucks. I was able to get approved ironically for the Propel after I closed my checking account with them that I had for more than a year (technically have been with them since 2010 but that's another story). Mine wasn't instantly approved and approved a few days later so I really think someone actually manually looked at my app. My card arrived days later with no problem. I hope having my Dillards open is enough so that I won't have to get a checking account back with them again. I know Ron1 has a couple of the WF retail cards like Kirklands and doesn't really have a checking or savings account or other relationships with Wells and still got one of their main cards too.

Maybe it's like what US Bank sometimes does with instant computer generated approvals and how UWs tend to review those and rescind approvals if they see anything they don't like.

that sucks ! sorry to hear that.. the only relationship i have with them is a chackings and a money market but CC i think they lack rewards on their products!

Sorry to hear it. In the world of credit cards Wells Fargo is on the bottom end of the rewards merry-go-round. You may want to think about seeking cards from other lenders. There are many write ups on this board about cards and other boards. Explain what you want on a thread and ask this board for ideas. Did it myself and the results worked out great.

Agreed. Why Wells Fargo? I am sorry to hear and I hope you are not planning on going to the branch for a 2nd HP. Whatever that card was offering, I am sure there are others doing the same thing if not better.

Just today I went to Wells Fargo and a customer was very upset about their service..... I thank them for giving me my first CC because I have been banking with them since i was 14 (2009) Plus my whole family has banked with them for 10 + years and makes it easier when transfering funds and making payments.
