1 week till first discover cli !!

March 2nd cannot come soon enough, my first soft pull cli is so soon how much should i ask for!

I was thinking of asking for 1000 or 1500$. Do you guys have suggestions of a good number higher then that or somewhere in between.

Actually, I believe with the revised form you can no longer ask for a certain amount. I wasn't able to. You plug in your income and housing payment and it comes back with whether you can have a SP CLI or not, and it will offer an amount. More than that will require a HP. Perhaps with the HP you can ask for a certain amount, that I don't know as I've never needed the HP, but the SP just is whatever they will give you. FWIW, that's fairly typical, Cap One is the same way

On the Discover CLI page, they don't ask you how much you want the increase to be. They only ask for your yearly income, your employer, and your monthly rent or mortgage payment. If you want to request a specific amount, you may have to call them.

Got it. Thats pretty unfortunate you can't ask for specific number with out calling them. I will soft pull and then ask for a higher number via chat.

At 3 months just don't be too disappointed if Discover does not grant a CLI. It might take a whole lot longer to see the account grow. If this is the case...keep using the card and be patient. Good luck !

FYI It took me 15 months to see the first move with my Discover CLI but then that was the account that did grow fastest after Amex.

i went with in 40 $ of the limit twice in the past two months. That should warrent a cli of atleast 200.

I hope it will work out for you. For me high util in the first 15 months did not help at all and only once I started to let balances report with 10-20% of my CL the increases came rolling in. Not sure if it was only time or reporting my balances (stop the 0 balance reporting game) that triggered my success with this card. At least from 2nd and 3rd CLI Discover increased even with 10% util. So not really sure what Discover is looking for. May your wished come true Let us know how it goes.

My first cli with Discover is Apr 30th, and I've already decided I'm going to ask for 5k so they'll more than likely counter with an offer somewhere in the middle, say 3 - 3.5k. 3000 is what I'm shooting for in the first place to be honest.

Good luck with your first discover CLI , i don't think they are guaranteed to give out cli every three months or so. It took me almost 10 months to get my first cli with them .

Good luck with your CLI request, OP. But remember that Discover is no Amex or Synchrony when it comes to CLIs. They're known as one of the more conservative lenders. They may be generous or they may disappoint you, but whatever happens, remember that with Discover it's all about the LONG TERM. Slow but steady wins the race and all that.

I've never read a post where someone actually received a CLI @90 day mark.

My requested soft pull increase was finally granted@ 8 months.

I received an auto CLI 90 days after account opening. That was two years ago, and I believe the policy is still the same now.

I know they have that policy but empirical evidence has me believing it's just something they tell you and won't happen for most...most of the time.

It's a policy on paper. IMO. I wouldn't count on it like one can "count"(parenthesis because it's still not guaranteed but definitely not just a policy on paper) on an AMEX 61 day.

How can it be a policy if it's not applicable to most people? "Sometimes" isn't a policy or practice. It's a "sometimes."
