I've been receiving several southwest rapid rewards credit card invites in the mail recently... which is new for me. I broke down and applied. I've been rebuilding my credit for the last 3 1/2 years. I have one secured and two unsecured credit cards that I have never paid late or missed a payment with. FICO scores in the low 600s. Credit 50-60%, but, I make several payments a month.

What's the likelihood I'll be approved? Chase seems tight with credit. I didn't have a good relationship with them about 6 years ago when I made poor credit choices in my late teens/very early twenties.

If that's your utilization, then you really need to get that much lower first before applying.

And what happened with Chase six years ago if you don't mind elaborating more on that?

Often times, those mail offers are marketing techniques to get you to apply. Based on your profile, it will be a stretch for approval. Your utilization is a bit high, your scores in the low 600s.. Give them at least a call to see what they say.

I got one in the mail today with a stated APR instead of a range of APRs (15.99). Think it's legit pre-qual or just marketing?

It is fixed 15.99 apr% no matter 680 or 850 score, no other aprs on the card. so most likely marketing.

It is fixed 15.99 apr% so mos tlikely marketing.

They were sending me these offers when my scores were in the 590's.

They make it tough to decipher! I think that unless you see the "pre-screen opt-out" notice that they're all just marketing. 50k bonus makes me open those envelopes. They know the way to hook me.

I got approved for both versions in January and my score was ~ 610.

I also got approved for both versions of this card with my EX at 614. My utilization was very low though. YMMV

Who'd they pull for your application? Experian?

Pretty sure they double pulled EX & EQ but only for the first card. I apped for the second card 3 days later with no additional pulls.
