I got the green because I want the blue..... Since its a SP if denied it is not HP risky, definitely willing to take the HP hit for BCP. I applied too soon after applying for green, I applied again, no dice, does AMEX Blacklist you for apping too much?

Thanks.

Ahh. I didn't realize that was the case! No, I am trying to get my first AMEX. I only have an AMEX company-issued card, which doesn't do me any good. And a couple of CAP1 and a Citi Rewards that won't budge! I guess I will have to get my scores up a bit more and then re-apply. The reason for the decline from AMEX was FICO score too low - it was 655 when I app'ed.

Thanks again!

On the score, I think I have seen approvals in the 670-700 range. If you get the score up a tad, I don't think you will have a problem.

Awesome, thanks! I am waiting for a PIF to post taking me to 1% utilization, EX says on their stimulator that will bump me to a 670, then I have a baddie rolling off in another 60 days...patience is key! At least I only have 3 HPs in the last 12 months across all 3 CRAs, so no major harm on the AMEX pulls.

(others cancel the card after the first year, but if your scores are going to be good enough, you are probably best served just getting the ED like you planned)

What oher cards do you have open? What month/year were they opened? It would seem you are right on the cusp of being able to get the ED.

I'm in rebuilding mode after languishing for a long time. Currently, I have a Cap1 Platinum with 1KCL due for CLI next month, a Cap1 QS with a measly 500CL, a Citi Thankyou Preferred with 500CL that they refuse to CLI and a store card (Peerless Tyres) with a 1200CL. Have a couple of baddies, one of which will roll off in a few months and a 60 lates. Went from 55% Util across all cards and the 2 Cap1's at 80%+ last month to everything PIF now. The Cap1 and Citi cards date to 2008, the Peerless to 2011.

I feel like if I take a more active roll in increasing my available credit, gardening a bit and landing a premium card I should see some decent results this year.
