Wells Fargo "invitation" to apply for Rewards Visa, huh?

Ok, so I have been banking with Wells Fargo (previously Wachovia in my area) for probably 20 years now and today for the first time in my history with them I signed into my account and immediately landed on page "inviting me to apply" for the Rewards Visa...does anyone have any history with this card or info to share? The 5x on groceries for the first 6 months and no annual fee have me a tad bit curious....

I highly recommend getting it, as you can really rack up the cash back/rewards. My DH and I each got one and made each other AUs, plus our son was an AU on each of our cards. DH got his card first, and the three of us (DH, me and our son) swiped the heck out of it and earned a couple grand in cash back. Then after the 6 months passed, we sock-drawered DH's card and I applied for my card. Had another 6 months of swiping and earning more cash back. It was great while it lasted. Both cards are permanently on sock duty now, since they only provide 1% rewards now.

The drugstore category is where I really racked up the cash back. My local Rite-Aid stores allow you to use a credit card to purchase Visa gift cards. Cha-ching!

OOH! That is fantastic! Does that "invitation" mean that they have done a soft pull and are sort of offering or is it just something they are sending out en masse I wonder? I have never ever had any type of offer like thing from them in all of these years. I would welcome the opportunity to go one step further with them considering I have banked with them for eons, lol....

I thought i read WF pre approvals were solid, but as usual its never a guarantee.

I cannot find an opt out...when I go through into my actual account info it gives me a little box off to one side that has never been there before, it say: I_think_I_can, Apply for a Visa card with a 0% intro rate etc...if I click on that , it takes me to a another page with the information from my original post along with terms and such....

The no opt-out, combined with the phrasing and unspecified APR are shouting marketing to me, not pre-qual. That's my opinion, though, I've never had any relationship with WF.

Wells fargo suggests products to it's customers or what not... I have been denied 3 times by an invitation that I now shred them... I HATE WELLS FARGO.

I think a friend even had an actual pre-approval link next to his checking account when he signed in and still DENIED. I HATE THEM HATE THEM HATE THEM

Ahh, that makes sense, thank you everyone for helping me to sort it out....definitely not worth leaving the garden for!! lol

I, too, get the Rewards CC screen when logging in to my checking account to apply. I keep clicking the "ask me later' button, mostly to extend the time period where I can maintain that positive glow that I might get a CC from WF... someday.... even though I know full well H### will have frozen over by that time...

Yeah, I guess I will just enjoy seeing it pop up from time to time...definitely don't need another inquiry hit for anything less than a sure thing at this point, that's for sure!

This card is terrible! I've had the card for five years and it's still at an 800 dollar limit. My lowest card and my scores are well over 700, no baddies or anything. This was my third credit card and I got approved for it when I was just starting out.

The sign up bonus is great I just think there are better cards out there if your thinking long term I would go with something else. Plus you have to wait until it hits 25 dollars to redeem. I've had 18 dollars in rewards in that account since I stopped using the card 3 years ago.

Definitely sounds a little too risky for me overall right now...only looking for near guarantees with either higher starting limits or at least something that has a good chance of growing. Not asking for much, right? lol

This is exactly why I love this forum...everyone sharing experiences the way they do gives better insight and I appreciate it for sure! .

I work for WF and that's is only an invitation, unfortunately. With WF, even the pre-approvals are not guaranteed, abt 85% are approved and everyone is invited to apply. With WF, even the secured card isn't an guarantee.

I actually don't mind banking with them. I prefer them over Bank of America, but as far as credit cards go they are nothing great.
