I'm back (short lived). BBVA Application denial

I applied for the BBVA American Express and didn't receive an instant decision. Called and was told a letter would be sent 7-10 days. Received the letter today and was denied because "Unable to verify identifyhing information". They sure as heck pulled my Experian report as the letter and my credit report notes. I would guess that it was my actual credit report either number of accounts or number of inquiries. Maybe even the score which they have at 711. I called and of course they have no information on the reason and will have to research and get back to me.

Gave me the same reason. I am in the 740s. They verified me three times when I called trying to at least get them to tell me I was denied. Seems more like a finance company trying to collect debts than a real bank to me. Customer service is horrible.

I might be taking this up with CFPB to at least see if I can get the inquiry removed. I applied on 4/7/15 and the letter is dated 4/7/15 which tells me that whatever they used was based on the credit report and not them trying to call and verify information. It was late on 4/7/15 when I applied too so no calls were made to try and verify anything.

No reconsideration process. They suggested to reapply. Won't be doing that. Gave me a name and address to write to for specific things that they couldn't verify. Won't waste my time writing, but might write to CFPB

Those results might be very limited in scope but it's plenty enough for me to throw up a big red stop sign and pass on this train.

Thanks for sharing your experience and with those scores and profile if it's not enough for them then i would only be wasting my time and another inquiry on what likely will be a denial too. Don't want anymore of those anytime soon.

I think you were denied due to: too much available credit setting and low credit usage.

That could be and if that is/was the case, they should just say that. They act like congress. Just give people an up or down vote. They take you through all kinds of drama.

I think you jinxed yourself with the Equality Card But, nothing the CFPB will do since they reviewed the application within thier guidelines. Had they cited different reasons versus what came stated on the letter, then you have a case. So, if they can't verify certain pieces of information, then it is what it is. You're not the only one that had the same outcome so don't take it personal. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

The fact that the denial was dated the same date of the application tells me that it was something on the credit report vs what I put on the application as they had no time to actually call to try and verify anything.

By the way, I got an email from the CEO of Equality card. I was so moved by the personal note that I reopened the account even at 4k We'll give them a shot for a year and see what develops.

When I opened my online account,to enroll the BBVA card (plus maybe adding biz card down the road) lots of identifying questions came up, some from public records and others from who knows where. So, if something didn't match, that could be the reason. They may or may not call depending on the exception flag. IME, all lenders approach ID verification differently in that regard.

Take for instance BMO Diners, I went through the whole "unable to verify identity/information" with them - it took them about 2.5 weeks until it got all sorted out.

It's ok though, water under the bridge. I'll try and find you another "pretty" in the next few months

I agree. And if you're going for the GM card, I would say that if you let things rest for a while, you should be in good shape. Remember, some folks have gotten approved for the GM BuyPower WEMC with $600 SL! You don't wanna trap yourself! Unless you're going for the Extended Family MC.

Hmm, good point i had also forgot about myself. It's certain an app of mine with them would have been met with the same scrutiny resulting in the exact same outcome, but theres no going back to undo those shut outs.

Well we do learn thru each other on our respective tries and especially when it involves these fast moving trains.
